Mayfield Senior School recently hosted a unique gathering over the holiday break to celebrate the Class of 2020.
The 2019-20 school year was largely shaped by the global pandemic, which interrupted many of Mayfield’s beloved traditions, and there had always been hope that a special gathering would reunite this resilient class at a homecoming event.
With the renovations and restoration of Strub Hall complete in December of 2022, nearly half the Class of 2020 attended this long-anticipated “Home for the Holidays” event.
The current college students were welcomed back to campus — alongside their parents and some siblings — to enjoy time together, connect with past teachers, enjoy delicious food provided by Gus’ BBQ and experience the magnificence that is Strub Hall over the Christmas season.
While catching up with one another, they posed for spontaneous snapshots at a photo booth, sat down to be sketched by a caricature artist and went home with a Mayfield market tote and unique graduation photos.
Since COVID-19 restrictions had prevented these young women from participating in many aspects of their high school experience, this event was a loving reminder that they are still forever members of the Mayfield community.
