Flintridge Prep, Mayfield Each Win; Westridge, Poly Tie

The Flintridge Prep varsity girls’ soccer team routed visiting Legacy College Prep of Santa Ana, 19-0, in a nonleague game called at halftime last Wednesday.
Senior Miranda Thomson racked up a game-high four goals with one assist while senior Sage Shurman registered a hat trick and three assists. Senior Chayse Ying and freshman Sadie Goodman each finished with two goals and three assists while junior Zaria Echemendia produced a pair of goals. Freshman Scarlett Coombes tallied one goal and two assists while sophomore Valentina Mancilla recorded one goal and one assist. Junior Stella Smit, sophomore Sarah Rude, and freshman Lauren Bradford and Valentina Ronga each scored once
Sophomore Celeste Davila had two assists while junior Jiawen Wang, junior Alyssa Romero and sophomore Dagny Marion were each credited with one assist.
The Wolves won their second straight game by defeating visiting El Rancho High of Pico Rivera, 3-1, in a nonleague game last Tuesday. Ying posted two goals and one assist while Shurman tallied one goal and one assist.
Flintridge Prep recently placed third in the Oceanside Tournament after edging Basha High of Chandler, Arizona, 2-1. Senior Presley Nevadomsky and Marion each scored once while Ying and Shurman were each credited with an assist.
The Wolves lost to Mission Hills High of San Marcos, 1-0, in a tournament game but routed Kofa High of Yuma, Arizona, 10-0, in their opener as Shurman amassed a game-high four goals. Nevadomsky and Coombes each recorded two goals and two assists while Marion finished with one goal and three assists. Ying scored once while Ronga registered an assist.
Flintridge Prep (8-2-3 overall, 1-0-1 in league) will host Mayfield Senior in a crucial Prep League game on Friday, Jan. 13, at 3:30 p.m. before visiting Providence High in Burbank for a league matchup on Tuesday, Jan. 17.

MAYFIELD SENIOR

Mayfield Senior School’s Sade Falese scored one goal to help the Cubs rout Providence High of Burbank in a Prep League game last week.

The Cubs blanked host Providence High in Burbank, 6-0, in a Prep League game on Friday. It was Mayfield’s second straight victory while improving to 2-0 in league (11-2-1 overall).
Senior captain Ella Gallo led the team with two goals and one assist while senior captain Kaitlyn Gomez registered one goal and two assists. Senior Sade Falese, junior Mia Cunningham and junior Maddie Frealy each scored once, freshman Lauren Hoshek was credited with a pair of assists and freshman Julia Lothian had one assist. Meanwhile, junior goalie Ellery Potter earned the shutout victory.
The Cubs previously edged host La Cañada, 2-1, to pick up a second victory over the Spartans this season. Cunningham and Falese each scored once while Gallo and Gomez each had one assist.
Mayfield will visit Flintridge Prep of La Cañada Flintridge for a crucial league game on Friday, Jan. 13, at 3:30 p.m. before visiting Polytechnic for a league game on Tuesday, Jan. 17.

FLINTRIDGE SACRED HEART

The Tologs lost at Notre Dame High in Sherman Oaks, 6-3, in their Mission League opener last Friday.
Junior captain Sachi Kaneko-Grun scored a pair of goals, sophomore Julia Vazquez registered one goal and one assist, and freshman Natalia Rosales had one assist.
FSHA (6-2 overall, 0-1 in league) will host Harvard-Westlake High of Studio City in a league game on Friday, Jan. 13, at 5 p.m. before visiting Sierra Canyon High in Chatsworth for a league matchup on Wednesday, Jan. 18.

  • Maranatha High School’s Vauna Derderian and the Minutemen will visit Whittier Christian High in La Habra on Friday, Jan. 13, at 3:15 p.m.

POLY

The Panthers tied host Westridge School, 4-4, in a Prep League matchup last Friday.
Junior Bianca Howitt did all the offensive damage for Poly by scoring a pair of goals in each half.
The Panthers (3-3-2 overall, 1-0-1 in league) will host Palos Verdes Chadwick in a league game on Friday, Jan. 13, at 3:15 p.m. before hosting powerhouse Mayfield Senior in a league matchup on Tuesday, Jan. 17, at 3:15 p.m.

WESTRIDGE

The Tigers tied visiting Polytechnic, 4-4, in a Prep League game last Friday.
Sophomore Sarah Leizman scored a pair of goals in the 11th and 65th minutes, senior Sunday Labrucherie scored the opening goal in the fifth minute and sophomore Ximena Alvarado added a goal in the 84th.
Westridge (2-4-1 overall, 0-1-1 in league) will host Providence High of Burbank in a league game on Friday, Jan. 13, at 3:15 p.m. before visiting Palos Verdes Chadwick for a league matchup on Tuesday, Jan. 17.

LA SALLE

The Lancers lost at Paraclete High in Lancaster, 4-1, in their Del Rey League opener last Wednesday. La Salle was previously shut out in a nonleague game at St. Genevieve High in Panorama City, 4-0. Individual statistics were not reported to the Pasadena Outlook.
The Lancers (4-3-4 overall, 0-1 in league) will visit Bishop Amat High in La Puente for a league game today at 3:30 p.m. before hosting Bishop Montgomery High of Torrance in a league game on Tuesday, Jan. 17.

MARANATHA

The Minutemen forfeited an Olympic League game against Valley Christian last Friday after posting a scoreless tie at Village Christian High in Sun Valley in their return to action last Tuesday.
Maranatha (1-2-1 overall, 0-1-1 in league) will visit Whittier Christian High in La Habra on Friday, Jan. 13, at 3:15 p.m. before hosting Heritage Christian High of Northridge on Tuesday, Jan. 17.
