First published in the Jan. 12 print issue of the Pasadena Outlook.

The Las Madrinas recently honored 34 young women, including several from Pasadena, and their families for their dedication to the Southern California community and Children’s Hospital Los Angeles during the annual Las Madrinas Ball at the Beverly Hilton Hotel, a festive evening marking the culmination of a year of service to others.
Elizabeth Williams Shoemaker, president of Las Madrinas, thanked Ball guests for joining the organization’s mission to advance equity, quality and innovation in pediatric health care by supporting the Las Madrinas Diagnostic Innovation Endowment at Children’s Hospital Los Angeles.
This pledge marks the 11th project that Las Madrinas has financed for the hospital, including more than $60 million that have directly impacted the most vulnerable children.
