Approximately 250 patrons attended Mijares Mexican restaurant’s second annual “Cigars and Cars” Father’s Day event on Saturday, June 11, in the parking lot of the popular Pasadena establishment.
“Even though it’s not Father’s Day weekend, we pushed it up a little bit so the fathers could come and show their cars, enjoy it with their families, walk around and look at some beautiful cars from the local area,” said Tom Recendez, restaurant manager and partner.
With nearly 64 classic vehicles, including Porsches, Corvettes and Volkswagens, arriving by 9 a.m., Recendez said the three-hour event was nothing short of a success.
“I wanted to show the community that there are still ways of people getting together, enjoy each other’s company and cars and not really have to worry about trying to make a dollar,” he said. “It’s a fun way to get together and make new friends.”
