Ronald McDonald House Shines at Gala

The 19th annual Shine Gala Grand Prix: “Fueling Families Together,” benefitted Ronald McDonald House Pasadena at a magical evening under the stars that brought together 360 attendees for a night of philanthropy and celebration.
The Shine Gala is dedicated to raising critical funds to support families in need, enabling them to access the best medical care possible for their children. The automotive-themed event featured a dazzling display of cool cars, thrilling auction bidding, delightful dinner and drinks, and lively dancing, creating an atmosphere of hope and camaraderie.
The event recognized two honorees who have made significant contributions to the cause. Reliance Steel & Aluminum Co., the corporate honoree, was commended for its partnership with Ronald McDonald House Charities, providing unwavering support to families both locally and nationally. The community honoree, Martin Holford, received well-deserved acknowledgment for his 15 years of dedication and leadership in advocating for Ronald McDonald House Pasadena’s mission.
A highlight of the evening was hearing from the Navarrette Family, whose son was born with a life-threatening congenital heart defect. At just seven days old, he had his first surgery, followed by two more before the age of three. The Navarrette family has stayed at the Ronald McDonald House each time, deeming it their “home-away-from-home.”
As Executive Director Mara Leong-Maguinez shared with the audience, “Ronald McDonald House Pasadena is a place for families, a place for community, and a place for love. Everyone is here tonight because you want to lend families a helping hand. Because you understand.”
