Mayfield Senior Athletes Earn League Recognition

A contingent of Mayfield Senior School athletes were recognized when the Prep League recently released its allleague teams for softball, track and field, and swim and dive following the completion of the 2023 spring season.

SOFTBALL
Junior Maddie Domingo and sophomore Kennedy Taylor each earned firstteam honors while freshman Mackenzie Taylor received a second-team selection. The Cubs finished the season fourth in the standings with a 7-5 record (18-9 overall). Domingo batted .290 with a .388 onbase percentage and a .852 OPS. She collected 24 runs, 15 RBIs, four doubles, two home runs and a triple over 81 plate appearances. Kennedy Taylor posted teambest marks in batting average (.438), on-base percentage (.561), hits (28) and RBIs (17) while adding a 1.124 OPS, 21 runs, six doubles and a triple. Mackenzie Taylor produced team-high marks in plate appearances (87) and runs (30) while posting a .312 batting average and a .916 OPS. She recorded 13 RBIs, three doubles and a pair of triples.

TRACK & FIELD
Monika Vargas won the girls’ 100 and 300 hurdles, the relay team of Alyssa Gallardo, Sade Falese, Liz Goethals and Vargas won the girls’ 400, and the relay team of Goethals, Leah Whitfield, Natalie Miera and Cecilia Kvochak won the girls’ 1,600. Sissy Page won the girls’ high jump, Falese was the girls’ long jump champion, Whitfield was the girls’ triple jump winner and Goethals won the girls’ discus.
