St. Francis Grad on Rose Bowl Roster

First published in the Jan. 12 print issue of the Pasadena Outlook.

St. Francis High School graduate Bryson Reeves, a University of Utah sophomore who plays safety, was on the Utes’ roster for the 109th annual Rose Bowl Game in Pasadena on Jan. 2. Utah was defeated by the Penn State University Nittany Lions, 35-21.

Although the Montrose native was sidelined due to injury, Reeves had the unique experience to stand underneath the lights of the historic 100-year-old Rose Bowl Stadium and walk the same grass as legendary figures before him.
Before his injury this season, Reeves posted a career-best three stops for the Utes in a victory over Stanford. He played in 10 games and finished with seven total tackles on defense and special teams.
Reeves was a standout athlete at St. Francis, primarily in football but also in baseball and track and field. His career accomplishments at SFHS include league offensive MVP and three all-league first-team selections.
