The Boys & Girls Club of Pasadena held its annual Champions for Kids recognition luncheon on Thursday, July 21.
The event honors individuals, foundations, corporations and volunteers for their longtime support of the club. This year’s recipients included staff members Laurie Zelbie and Quartney Cervantes, the law firm Lagerof, LLP, the Pasadena Community Foundation, Mary Donnelly-Crocker and board member Craig Stewart.
Pasadena Mayor Victor Gordo shared some of his own childhood memories of attending Boys & Girls Club programs while guest speaker Donnelly-Crocker, former executive director of Pasadena-based nonprofit Young & Healthy, encouraged guests to increase their capacity for empathy and compassion.
Boys & Girls Club of Pasadena CEO Lisa Cavelier thanked the many supporters in attendance for their continued commitment to the out-of-school programs and activities, which serve more than 2,000 Pasadena-area children and teens.
