The Mayfield Senior varsity girls’ softball team opened Prep League action by defeating host Westridge School, 15-0, recently as freshman pitcher Jenna Domingo tossed a complete game, two-hitter over five innings with seven strikeouts to earn the win.
She retired seven batters in a row to start the game before walking Westridge freshman infielder Emmabella Barragan Martinez, who finished 1-for-1 in two plate appearances. At the plate, Jenna Domingo finished 3-for-4 with an RBI, two stolen bases and two runs scored.
“It was my first league game as a high schooler, so I just wanted to do my best,” Jenna Domingo said. “I am a consistent hitter and I run the bases like I would if it’s a close game. I just keep running up the score like any other game.”
The Cubs’ bats were hot in their league opener, as seven batters collected multi-hit performances and Mayfield finished with 18 total hits.
Mayfield senior outfielder Maria Dilbeck went 4-for-4 with three RBIs, two runs scored and five stolen bases.

The Cubs took control in the top of the first inning after five of the eight batters crossed the plate against Westridge junior pitcher Soleil Ybarra.
Mayfield freshman Kennedy Taylor tallied two hits, three RBIs and a run scored, while sophomore catcher Madilyn Domingo finished 2-for-3 with four runs scored, an RBI and a stolen base. Meanwhile, for the Tigers, freshman infielder Reed Dietrick finished 1-for-2.
“Dietrick is a player that has really textbook skills and when she connects, she connects. She’s a freshman and I am super happy to have her,” Westridge head coach Karen Hanselman said.
