The Westridge School varsity girls’ lacrosse team opened the season on a five-game slide after recently falling at Culver City, 12-3, in a Prep League game last Thursday.
Elena Ruiz, Gabrielle Carre and Theadora Hohmann each recorded one goal, while Sarah Leizman tallied one assist. It has been a challenging stretch, but head coach Emily Mukai said the team is building from scratch, and the Tigers faced formidable opposition.
Previously, Westridge lost a league game at Sun Valley Village Christian, 19-2, on Feb. 28, as Leizman and Carre each scored.
The Tigers lost a nonleague game to visiting La Cañada, 19-7, on Feb. 25, at Leizman collected a season-high five goals. Carre and Jacqueline Pearce each registered one goal.
The Tigers (0-5 overall, 0-2 in league) are scheduled to visit Palos Verdes Chadwick on Tuesday, March 15, at 3:30 p.m.

After winning their first game of the season, the Golden Knights lost their next four consecutive games, including a nonleague matchup with visiting Tesoro High of Rancho Santa Margarita, 18-9, on Saturday.
St. Francis was previously edged at Anaheim Servite, 13-12, last Thursday. The Golden Knights fell to 1-2 at home after losing to Palos Verdes, 15-12, on Feb. 25. No individual statistics were reported to the Pasadena Outlook.
The Golden Knights (1-4 overall record) are scheduled to host Redondo Union High of Redondo Beach on Friday, March 11, at 7 p.m.
