Poly, Maranatha, La Salle, St. Francis Fall in CIF

The Polytechnic varsity boys’ soccer team recently lost to visiting Cate High of Carpinteria, 4-1, in a shootout after ending its CIF-Southern Section Division V first-round game in a 2-2 draw.
Senior James Gomez and junior Parker Gooden each scored once while junior Jessie Benitez was credited with an assist.
The Panthers finished the campaign as Prep League champions with a stellar 8-1 record (12-6 overall).

MARANATHA

The Minutemen were recently shut out by visiting Bishop Montgomery of Torrance, 1-0, in their CIF-Southern Section Division VI first-round matchup.
Maranatha finished the campaign as unbeaten Olympic League champions with a 7-0-1 record (15-8-2 overall).

LA SALLE

The Lancers recently lost at Bishop Montgomery High in Torrance, 1-0, in their CIF-Southern Section Division VI second-round game as goalie Julian Gomez made a pair of saves.
La Salle previously blanked visiting Ontario Christian, 1-0, in their first-round matchup as Cabral Corvelo scored the winning goal. Tomas Posada-Awad was credited with an assist while Gomez had one save to preserve the shutout.
The Lancers finished the campaign as Camino Real League co-champions with a 6-2-2 record (16-6-2 overall).

ST. FRANCIS

The Golden Knights recently lost at Fontana, 3-2, in their CIF-Southern Section Division III wildcard game. Senior Giovanni Nieves and junior Giuliano Lampasona each scored once while freshman goalie Rome Strongin racked up nine saves.
SFHS concluded the campaign fourth in the Mission League standings with a 7-7 record (9-13-1 overall).
