Flintridge Prep, La Salle, FSHA, Poly Open Postseason Play Last Week

The Flintridge Prep varsity girls’ basketball team won its Prep League finale at Providence High in Burbank, 53-36, last Wednesday as senior captain Ashley Chea racked up 21 points, eight rebounds and four steals.
Sophomore Olivia Childs registered nine points and 15 rebounds while freshman Maddie Smith finished with nine points, seven rebounds and three steals. Junior captain Izzie Chan tallied six points, three steals, two rebounds and one block, sophomore Gigi Mastras recorded six points and three rebounds, and freshman Pressley Huie had four points.
The Wolves routed visiting Polytechnic, 85-26, in a league matchup last Monday. Smith amassed 30 points, eight rebounds, seven steals and five assists while Chea posted a triple-double with 26 points, 12 steals, 10 assists and seven rebounds. Meanwhile, Huie scored nine points.
Flintridge Prep recently defeated host Palos Verdes Chadwick in a league game, 62-30. Huie poured in 16 points with five rebounds and four assists, Chea racked up 15 points, seven rebounds, nine steals and seven assists, and Mastras scored 12 points with five rebounds.
The Wolves recently defeated host Westridge School in Pasadena, 57-14, in a league matchup. Smith registered 21 points, eight rebounds, seven steals and seven assists, junior Kassidy Huie tallied 12 points and four steals, and Chan scored nine points.
Flintridge Prep previously defeated visiting Rio Hondo Prep of Arcadia in a league game, 66-43. Chea recorded 23 points, eight assists, six rebounds and five steals, Smith finished with 13 points, six rebounds and four assists, and freshman Akemi Fu produced eight points and eight rebounds.
The league champion Wolves (12-0 in league, 25-2 overall) have a first-round bye and will host either Burbank (15-13 overall) or Corona del Mar High of Newport Beach (16-11 overall) in their CIF-Southern Section Division 3AA playoff opener on Saturday, Feb. 11, at 7 p.m.

LA SALLE

The Lancers concluded the regular season with a 56-35 nonleague victory over visiting Rolling Hills Prep of San Pedro on Saturday.
La Salle edged visiting St. Anthony High of Long Beach, 65-63, in an overtime Del Rey League game last Thursday. Junior Audrey Chen racked up 22 points, five assists, three rebounds, two steals and one block, sophomore Kaden Cortes poured in 14 points with three rebounds and one assist, and freshman Casey Higgins posted a double-double with 10 points, 17 rebounds and one assist. Senior Ellie Chen scored nine points with three rebounds, senior Reese Wong registered seven points, four assists and one rebound, and freshman Julianne Tan had three points, one steal and one assist.
The Lancers defeated host Serra High of Gardena, 56-30, in a league matchup last Tuesday. Cortes finished with 12 points, one steal and one rebound while Audrey Chen poured in 10 points with five assists, two steals and two rebounds. Higgins registered eight points, eight rebounds, five steals and two assists while Wong tallied eight points, six assists, three rebounds and two steals. Junior Avery Ward produced five points, seven rebounds and one steal while Ellie Chen recorded five points, four assists and three rebounds. Junior Aubrey Ramos scored three points with one assist and one rebound, Tan posted three points, five rebounds, one steal and one assist, and freshman Aliyah Casas scored two points. Meanwhile, senior Meghan Christensen added one rebound.
La Salle recently lost a league game against visiting Bishop Montgomery High of Torrance, 51-45, as Audrey Chen racked up a double-double with 15 points, 10 rebounds, three assists and two steals. Higgins registered nine points and 10 rebounds, Ellie Chen tallied seven points, three rebounds and one block, and Cortes scored six points. Tan recorded four points, two rebounds, two assists and one steal, Ward finished with four points and four rebounds, and Wong collected one rebound and one assist.
The Lancers previously beat host Campbell Hall High in North Hollywood in a nonleague game, 37-34, as Audrey Chen poured in 16 points with five rebounds, three steals and one assist. Wong registered seven points, four rebounds and two assists, Cortes scored six points, and Higgins recorded four points, 10 rebounds and five assists. Ellie Chen produced two points and four rebounds, Tan had two points, two steals and one rebound, and Ward posted a pair of rebounds.
Del Rey League runner-up La Salle (6-2 in league, 23-3 overall) will host Summit High of Fontana (12-13 overall) in its CIF-Southern Section Division 2AA playoff opener Thursday at 7 p.m. If victorious, the Lancers would advance to a second-round matchup against either Rolling Hills Prep (15-8 overall) or San Marcos (13-9 overall) on Saturday, Feb. 11, at 7 p.m.

Flintridge Sacred Heart Academy junior captain Isabelle Risha scored 14 points to help the Tologs defeat Marymount High in a recent Angelus League game.

FLINTRIDGE SACRED HEART

The Tologs concluded the regular season with a pair of Angelus League losses against Notre Dame Academy of Los Angeles, 55-51, and Immaculate Heart High in Los Angeles, 36-32. Individual statistics were not reported to the Pasadena Outlook.
The Tologs recently picked up a 57-23 league victory over visiting Marymount High of Los Angeles. Junior captain Isabelle Risha and sophomore Ava Nawrocki each poured in a game-high 14 points while senior Meghan Garrity scored 11 points. Freshman Bella Hagobian finished with seven points, sophomore Sophia Astacaan tallied six points and senior captain Sophia Heredia recorded five points.
FSHA previously lost a league matchup to visiting Louisville High of Woodland Hills, 62-15. Astacaan scored four points, Risha, Hagobian and Garrity each tallied three points, and Nawrocki had two points.
The Tologs, who finished in a three-way tie for second place, will open the CIF-Southern Section Division 4AA playoffs at Garey High in Pomona (19-4 overall) Thursday at 7 p.m. If victorious, Flintridge Sacred Heart (4-4 in league, 14-13 overall) would advance to a second-round matchup at Shalhevet High in Los Angeles (20-1 overall) on Saturday, Feb. 11, at 7 p.m.

Polytechnic’s Luciana Piro and the Panthers finished the regular season fourth in the Prep League standings and secured a postseason berth.

POLY

The Panthers concluded the regular season by posting four Prep League wins in their last six matchups, defeating Providence High of Burbank, 47-43, and Mayfield Senior, 54-27. Poly also added consecutive victories over Palos Verdes Chadwick by scores of 47-28 and 54-28.
The Panthers’ only two losses came against Rio Hondo Prep in Arcadia, 56-48, and powerhouse Flintridge Prep, 85-26. Individual statistics were not reported to the Pasadena Outlook.
Poly, which finished fourth in the league standings, will visit Santa Paula (15-8 overall) for its CIF-Southern Section Division 4A playoff opener Thursday at 7 p.m. If victorious, the Panthers (7-5 in league, 13-12 overall) would advance to a second-round matchup against either Crossroads High of Santa Monica (16-10 overall) or Newbury Park Adventist (11-6 overall) on Saturday, Feb. 11, at 7 p.m.

MAYFIELD SENIOR

The Cubs defeated visiting Westridge School, 46-23, in their regular-season finale last Thursday.
Sophomore Jenna Domingo poured in 13 points while sophomore Christine Ellis registered 10 points. Juniors Maia and Annika Mashiko each scored six points, junior Erin Michelena and sophomore Kristen Awakuni each recorded four points, senior Chloe Clawson had two points, and senior Yasmeen Elrabat tallied one point.
Mayfield recently lost a league game at Polytechnic, 54-27, as Domingo finished with 18 points. Junior Mia Aguilar scored five points while Michelena and Ellis each produced two points.
The Cubs previously lost a league matchup at Providence High in Burbank, 59-31. Michelena registered eight points, Domingo tallied seven points and Awakuni scored six points. Ellis finished with four points, Maia Mashiko had three points, Aguilar recorded two points and Elrabat had one point.
Mayfield concluded the campaign sixth in the league standings with a 2-10 record (5-17 overall).

MARANATHA

The Minutemen defeated visiting Whittier Christian High of La Habra, 42-31, in their regular-season finale last Thursday.
Sophomore Charlotte Yee racked up 19 points, four rebounds, two assists and one block, sophomore Lori Derderian poured in 11 points with four rebounds, three steals and one block, and sophomore Aleen Avanessian registered nine points, two rebounds, two steals, one block and one assist. Sophomore Kayla Sartin tallied two points, two rebounds and one assist while sophomore Lara Kasbarian finished with one point, seven rebounds, two assists and one steal. Sophomore Anna Khourian collected three rebounds, freshman Presley Tanaka had one steal and one rebound, and junior Danielle Babikian notched two rebounds.
Maranatha lost to visiting Shalhevet High of Los Angeles, 55-34, in a nonleague game last Wednesday. Kasbarian poured in 12 points with three steals, two assists and one rebound while Derderian recorded eight points, four steals, four assists and one rebound. Yee scored six points with one steal while Khourian finished with five points, two rebounds and one block. Avanessian tallied two points, three rebounds and one block while Sartin registered one point, six rebounds and four steals. Tanaka collected two steals and two rebounds, Babikian had two rebounds, and freshman Clair Timour notched one assist and one steal.

Khourian collected three rebounds while Tanaka and Yee had one rebound and one assist, respectively.
The Minutemen concluded the campaign fourth in the league standings with a 2-6 record (6-18 overall).

WESTRIDGE

The Tigers lost at Mayfield Senior, 46-23, in their Prep League finale last Thursday.
Westridge lost to Palos Verdes Chadwick, 42-28, in a league matchup last Tuesday. Junior Sarah Kong poured in 10 points while sophomore Jaedyn Tsang scored nine points. Sophomore Lauren Lauderdale finished with four points, sophomore Ariana Epstein tallied three points and junior Evangeline Kuo had two points.
The Tigers recently lost a league game against visiting powerhouse Flintridge Prep, 57-14. Freshman Angela Li produced five points while freshman Isabel De Leon recorded four points. Tsang and Kuo each scored two points while Kong had one point.
Westridge previously lost a league game at Providence High in Burbank, 55-24.
The Tigers concluded the season seventh in the league standings with a 1-11 record (2-15 overall).
