Poly, Flintridge Prep, La Salle Collect Wins

The Polytechnic varsity girls’ water polo team saw its three-game winning streak end after losing a nonleague game at Marlborough High in Los Angeles, 17-8, last Friday.
Junior Kaylin Yagura registered three goals while senior Liz Fogassa finished with two goals. Senior Tonanxochitl Ortega, junior Natalie Vincent and sophomore Ani Hovsepyan each scored once while freshman Georgia Collister posted nine saves.
The Panthers defeated visiting Flintridge Prep, 9-5, in a league matchup last Tuesday. Fogassa recorded four goals while Vincent produced three goals. Collister made six saves while Yagura and Hovsepyan each had one goal.
Poly recently defeated visiting Brentwood School in a league game, 12-4, as Fogassa scored five goals. Collister finished with eight saves, Yagura recorded four goals and Ortega tallied three goals.
The Panthers previously beat host Westridge School in a league game, 19-8. Fogassa tallied five goals while Ortega and Vincent each scored four goals. Collister notched eight saves, Yagura posted three goals, and junior Ann High, junior Willa Bortz and freshman Amelie Salette each had one goal.
League-leading Poly (14-6 overall, 7-0 in league) will visit fifth-place Mayfield Senior for a league rematch on Friday, Jan. 27, at 3:30 p.m. The Panthers will host La Salle College Preparatory on Monday, Jan. 30, before finishing the regular season with back-to-back home games against Westridge School on Wednesday, Feb. 1, and Palos Verdes Chadwick on Thursday, Feb. 2.

FLINTRIDGE PREP

Flintridge Prep’s Nico Seaver averaged 3.5 goals in four tournament games last weekend.

The Wolves competed in the Lady Warrior Classic last weekend and finished the tournament with a 1-3 record.
Flintridge Prep defeated San Pedro, 17-5, in a tournament game. Alex Thein racked up six goals, Nico Seaver finished with four goals and Katelin Kinne tallied three goals. Victoria Barry recorded two goals while Sarah Iturbe and Sam Bonk each had one goal.
The Wolves were edged by Glendale, 9-8, in a tournament game. Seaver registered four goals, Kinne scored a pair of goals, and Barry and Thein each had one goal.
Flintridge Prep lost to Rosary Academy of Fullerton, 13-5, in a tournament game. Seaver produced three goals, Thein and Kinne each scored once, and goalie Dahlia Kamins posted 12 saves.
The Wolves lost to Irvine, 16-6, in a tournament game. Seaver scored three goals, Iturbe, Barry and Thein each recorded one goal, and Kamins made 10 saves.
Flintridge Prep defeated visiting Palos Verdes Chadwick, 14-8, in a Prep League game last Thursday. Kamins racked up 17 saves while Seaver produced five goals. Barry registered three goals, Kinne and Iturbe each tallied two goals, and Thein had one goal.
Flintridge Prep lost a league game at Polytechnic, 9-5, last Tuesday. Seaver finished with three goals, Kinne and Barry each scored once and Kamins tallied 12 saves.
The Wolves recently collected their fifth straight victory after defeating host Mayfield Senior, 9-7, in a Prep League game as Seaver racked up five goals. Kamins registered six saves, Barry scored a pair of goals, and Kinne and Thein each had one goal.
Flintridge Prep recently won a league game at Palos Verdes Chadwick, 14-10, as Seaver produced a game-high six goals. Kamins posted six saves, Naomi Cohen, Thein and Barry each finished with two goals, and Bonk scored once.
The Wolves defeated visiting La Salle College Preparatory of Pasadena in a league matchup, 12-6. Seaver and Barry each recorded three goals, Iturbe and Thein each finished with two goals, and Kinne and Bonk each had one goal.
Second-place Flintridge Prep (11-9 overall, 6-2 in league) will host Brentwood School in a rematch on Monday, Jan. 30, at 3:30 p.m. before hosting La Salle College Preparatory in its regular-season finale on Wednesday, Feb. 1.

LA SALLE

La Salle College Preparatory junior Cameron Turner finished with three goals to help the Lancers defeat Mayfield Senior in a Prep League game last weekend.

The Lancers posted a 16-5 Prep League victory at Mayfield Senior on Saturday as sophomore Grace Kachmarsky scored six goals.
Senior Audrey Turner and junior Cameron Turner each finished with three goals while senior Maya Magluyan, junior Raquel Sanchez, sophomore River Lee and freshman Charlotte Kushnieruk each scored once.
La Salle defeated Brentwood School in a league game at Notre Dame High in Sherman Oaks, 11-6, last Thursday as senior Monica Villasenor racked up 20 saves, two steals and one assist. Kachmarsky registered five goals, six steals and one assist while Lee tallied two goals, nine steals and one assist. Sanchez posted one goal, seven steals and two assists, Cameron Turner finished with one goal, four steals and two assists, and sophomore Lola Waters recorded one goal and two steals. Meanwhile, Magluyan had two assists and one steal.

Kachmarsky registered three goals, one steal and one assist while Magluyan tallied three goals and two steals. Lee finished with two goals and nine steals, Audrey Turner produced two goals and three steals, Cameron Turner recorded two goals, two steals and one assist, and sophomore Matea Cepielik posted two goals, one save and one assist. Sanchez had one goal and five steals, senior Chloe Gao was credited with one goal, one steal and one assist, and junior Mia Ocampo notched one goal and two steals. Seniors Madailein Gregg and Zoe Thomas each scored one goal with one assist while sophomore Sophia Culver collected a pair of steals. Junior Fernanda Martinez had one steal and one assist while senior Caroline Miller, senior Ava Crespo and Kushnieruk each had one steal.
The Lancers recently edged host Rowland High of Rowland Heights in a league game, 8-7, as Villasenor produced 15 saves, seven steals and one assist. Audrey Turner registered two goals, five steals and two assists, Kachmarsky tallied two goals, two steals and one assist, and Gregg finished with two goals and two steals. Lee posted one goal and three steals, Magluyan recorded one goal, one steal and one assist, Cameron Turner notched one goal and one assist, and senior Andrea Velandia scored once. Cepielik made four saves with one steal, Sanchez collected three steals, Crespo finished with two steals, and Waters had one steal and one assist. Culver and Thomas each had one steal while Kushnieruk was credited with an assist.
La Salle previously lost a league game at Flintridge Prep, 12-6, as Audrey Turner tallied three goals, six steals and one assist. Lee recorded one goal, five steals and one assist, Cameron Turner posted one goal, four steals and one assist, and Kachmarsky finished with one goal, four steals and one assist. Villasenor registered 15 saves, four steals and one assist, Gao collected four steals, and Magluyan produced three steals and one assist.
The Lancers, tied for second place in the standings with Flintridge Prep, will visit fourth-place Palos Verdes Chadwick for a league game on Friday, Jan. 27, at 3:30 p.m. La Salle (11-7 overall, 6-2 in league) will visit Polytechnic on Monday, Jan. 30, before visiting Flintridge Prep for its regular-season finale on Wednesday, Feb. 1.

WESTRIDGE

Westridge School’s Sloan Criddle made eight saves during a recent Prep League game against Polytechnic.

The Tigers edged host Mayfield Senior, 12-11, in a Prep League game last Thursday as Skye Inal racked up five goals.
Ashley Spence, Emery Fishbach and Margaret Northrop each tallied two goals while Josephine Wong scored once.
Westridge lost to visiting La Salle College Preparatory, 19-7, in a league game last Tuesday. Inal and Spence each registered three goals while Fishbach had one goal.
The Tigers recently lost a league game against visiting Palos Verdes Chadwick, 15-13. Inal racked up six goals, Northrop produced five goals, and Wong and Fishbach each recorded one goal.
Westridge recently lost a nonleague game at Marlborough High in Los Angeles, 17-5. Inal posted four goals while Wong had one goal.

Westridge (3-10 overall, 2-7 in league) will visit Brentwood School today at 4 p.m. The Tigers will host powerhouse Polytechnic in their regular-season finale on Wednesday, Feb. 1.

MAYFIELD SENIOR

Mayfield Senior sophomore Olivia Laguna recorded three goals during a nonleague game against Louisville High last week.

The Cubs lost a Prep League game against visiting La Salle College Preparatory, 16-5, on Saturday as senior Tillie VanAken registered three goals.
Freshman Melia Whalen scored once, freshman Gabriella DeFilippo tallied one goal and three saves, and junior Ella Yoon made four saves.
Mayfield was edged by visiting Westridge School, 12-11, in a league game last Thursday as VanAken and Whalen each tallied four goals. Yoon racked up 13 saves while junior Maggie Mazurek, freshman Camila de Cardenas and freshman Zoe Chiu each scored once.
The Cubs lost at Louisville High in Woodland Hills, 11-9, in a nonleague game last Wednesday as Yoon posted 13 saves. VanAken finished with four goals, sophomore Olivia Laguna recorded three goals and Whalen scored a pair of goals.
Mayfield recently lost a league game against visiting Flintridge Prep of La Cañada Flintridge, 9-7. Whalen produced four goals, VanAken scored three goals and Yoon had 12 saves.
The Cubs previously dominated visiting Brentwood School in a league matchup, 9-1.
Fifth-place Mayfield (8-13 overall, 2-6 in league) will host first-place Polytechnic in a league game on Friday, Jan. 27, at 3:30 p.m. The Cubs will visit Palos Verdes Chadwick on Monday, Jan. 30, before visiting Brentwood School for their regular-season finale on Wednesday, Feb. 1.

FLINTRIDGE SACRED HEART

Flintridge Sacred Heart Academy’s Bella Valdivia and the Tologs recently competed in the Lady Warrior Classic and finished with a 2-2 record.

The Tologs competed in the Lady Warrior Classic last weekend and finished with a 2-2 record. FSHA defeated Temescal Canyon High of Lake Elsinore, 17-12, and Glendale, 20-6, but were edged by West High of Torrance, 10-9, and Irvine, 13-12.
Flintridge Sacred Heart routed Marymount High of Los Angeles, 29-4, in a Mission League game last Tuesday.
The Tologs recently competed in the Oxnard Tournament and finished with a 3-2 record. FSHA collected victories against Royal High of Simi Valley, 13-7, Villanova Prep of Ojai, 16-5, and Malibu, 16-2. The Tologs dropped a pair of games, including their first loss of the season, against Ventura, 7-3, and Dana Hills High of Dana Point, 11-7. Individual statistics were not reported to the Pasadena Outlook by the FSHA coaching staff.
The Tologs previously picked up a league victory at Notre Dame High in Sherman Oaks in sudden-death overtime, 13-12, as Reese Artura scored the deciding goal. Natalia DeKansky racked up nine saves, Marisol Cowles, Kate Dolan and Lily Waggoner each registered three goals, and Audrey Lawlor, Guinevere Andrews and Kaitlyn Beltz each added one goal.
Flintridge Sacred Heart (18-4 overall, 3-0 in league) will host Louisville High of Woodland Hills for a league game on Tuesday, Jan. 31, at 3:30 p.m. The Tologs will visit Marlborough High in Los Angeles on Thursday, Feb. 2, before hosting Paramount in their regular-season finale on Friday, Feb. 3.
