Blair High School Senior Wins Trudell Skinner Scholarship

First published in the June 2 print issue of the Pasadena Outlook.

Mariana Salcedo, a senior at Blair High School, is the recipient of the first Trudell Skinner Women in Leadership Award, a $1,000 scholarship created in memory of the PUSD leader and former Blair principal who passed away in August.
Salcedo is an active young leader, with leadership experiences through JROTC, community involvement and academic achievement. She is the recipient of Blair’s International Baccalaureate Learner Profile Award and a number of scholarships and awards. She plans to attend Pasadena City College before transferring to California State University, Los Angeles, to study criminal justice. Her goal is to enter law enforcement.
In honor of her commitment to leadership development and lifelong mentoring, Pasadena Unified and the Skinner family created a scholarship acknowledging Skinner’s legacy. The annual scholarship provides equitable access to deserving PUSD students to continue their educations beyond high school.
