Dozens of Glendale Community College athletes were recognized for their performances on the field, court or course in the fall season, including a handful of Pasadena natives.
Annika Anderson, a 2020 graduate of Pasadena High School, was named as an All-American in cross-country for her effort in leading the women’s squad to its 16th consecutive Western State Conference title, placing third in the Southern California regional and sixth in the state meet. Anderson also was named as a Western State Conference first-team athlete.
In football, defensive lineman Brandon McElroy, a 2020 John Muir High School graduate, earned first-team all-Metro League after logging 12 solo tackle, nine assists and recovering one fumble in the Vaqueros’ journey to a 6-4 record (3-2 in league). Freshman outside linebacker Chuck Shull, another John Muir alumnus, earned second-team all-league honors with 15 solo tackles, six assists, three tackles for loss and a 30-yard pick-6 in the Vaqueros’ win over the Orange Coast Pirates.
In volleyball, freshman setter Crystal Ramirez, a Pasadena native who graduated from La Salle College Prep, was named second-team all-Western State Conference after accumulating 200 assists, 49 kills and 16 aces this past season.
