International School of Los Angeles: ‘All Citizens of One World’

First published in the Jan. 27 print issue of the Pasadena Outlook.

Elementary school is a pivotal time in a child’s life. It is their first contact with structured learning, and the experience will be a deciding factor as to whether they enjoy school and find the learning process rewarding.
The International School of Los Angeles challenges students and puts them on firm footing for the rest of their educational careers. Our curriculum relies on the traditional essentials of reading, writing, and mathematics. Since our community is international, we stress social studies and the concept that we are all citizens of one world.
Serving 145 students from preschool through the 5th-grade, our Pasadena campus is conveniently located in the heart of Pasadena. Exuding old-world charm with its intimate size and beautiful landscaping, the campus consists of a two-story building with 11 classrooms, a dual language library, a computer lab and dedicated outside dining and play areas.
We are proud of our tight-knit community and do our utmost to serve our parents and students alike with extended daycare services available, a formal study hall program to help students complete their homework and obtain extra help, and an engaging after-school enrichment program designed to broaden student experience.
