Season Underway for Pasadena Teams

The Maranatha High School varsity boys’ soccer team collected their second win of the season last Saturday, defeating Alhambra Mark Keppel, 3-1, in a tournament match.
The Minutemen improved to 2-4 on the season and will resume tournament play against Flintridge Prep this Saturday, Dec. 11, at 2 p.m.

La Salle Defeated by Arcadia

The Lancers fell to 1-4 on the season after dropping a nonleague contest against visiting Arcadia, 3-1, last Saturday.
La Salle, whose lone victory of the season was over Flintridge Prep, will compete in the Thousand Oaks Tournament and face Simi Valley Royal on Tuesday, Dec. 21, at 9:45 a.m.

Panthers Remain Unbeaten

The Polytechnic’s five-game winning streak was snapped last week with a scoreless draw against visiting Alhambra.
The Panthers (5-0-1 overall) opened the season with victories over San Gabriel, Arcadia, Claremont Webb, Ojai Thacher and San Marino and has surrendered only two goals this season while scoring 22.
Poly, ranked No. 3 in CIF Southern Section Division 5, will be idle during the winter break and return to face Pasadena Marshall on Jan. 7.

St. Francis Downs Flintridge Prep

Diego Jimenez scored two goals and led the Golden Knights to a 3-1 victory over visiting Flintridge Prep on Dec. 8.
Julian Carrillo put the game away with a third goal in the second to help St. Francis extend its win streak to three matches.
However, the Golden Knights were unable to make it four in a row and fell to host Los Angeles Cathedral, 2-0, in a nonleague contest last Friday. St. Francis will look to bounce back at Encino Crespi in a Mission League match this Friday, Dec. 17, at 5 p.m.
Flintridge Prep (2-3-2 overall) shut out Alhambra Mark Keppel, 3-0, in a tournament game last weekend and will square off against La Cañada on the road in a nonleague contest on Tuesday, Dec. 22, at 5 p.m.
