Behind the Scenes at Holiday Look In Home Tour

By Lisa Ashworth and Gail Crotty
Special to the Outlook

The Holiday Look In is a home tour showcasing the architecture and gardens of four magnificent homes, which are beautifully decorated for the holidays by Pasadena’s finest floral designers. For your holiday shopping, we also feature a Holiday Boutique. With more than 2,000 visitors each year, the Holiday Look In has become a long-standing tradition kicking off the holiday season.
So how did we go from an in-person home tour and make it virtual? No one on our Holiday Look In Committee had ever done anything quite like this before. It’s been a real adventure and we’ve learned a lot. From exterior drone video to interior videography, from narration by David Lockington, the music director and conductor for the Pasadena Symphony, to the holiday music performed by the talented musicians from the Pasadena Youth Symphony Orchestras, it is our hope this year’s event will be an experience that is as close as possible to actually being there while keeping you safe and healthy.

Also, this year we have decided not to charge for the home tour. We knew early on it was unlikely we could host our annual in-person event, yet we felt it was important to carry on our tradition. And most importantly, we want to thank the hundreds of thousands of patrons who have supported the Women’s Committee of the Pasadena Symphony, and the Holiday Look In Home Tour over the years and bring the holiday spirit into the homes of everyone.
We are, however, graciously accepting donations, which will support the Pasadena Symphony and Pops annual concert series, as well as the Pasadena Youth Symphony Orchestras. Over the years, the Women’s Committee has raised over $4 million. It’s through our innovative efforts that we are able to extend this tradition.
Tickets are not required, but you must register in order to enjoy the tour and shop at the online Holiday Boutique. Registration is easy; visit Just fill out your information and we will email you a confirmation link and a second reminder on Dec. 5 when the tour goes live. The “doors” open at 9 a.m. on Dec. 5 and you will have unlimited access to the homes and the Boutique through Dec. 31.
As of right now, we have 19 fabulous “stores” to shop from. The online Holiday Boutique is located immediately after the last virtual home tour. But you can also get there by clicking “The Boutique” link at the beginning of the tour.
