Civitas, a club that promotes discussion of important issues by people who seek to make a difference in the community, recently held its new members launch party — complete with cocktails, a wine tasting and special prizes — at Cafe Verde in Pasadena. Union Station Homeless Services CEO Anne Miskey led a discussion titled “Ending Homelessness in Pasadena,” while the topic “Urban Planning and the Pasadena of the Future” was explored with guidance from Vinayak Bharne, a principal at the architecture and planning firm Moule & Polyzoides. The program’s lighter side was embodied by the wine tasting led by Michael Williamson, and “Help Me Pick a Whisky,” led by Jim McCarthy.
