Debutantes Presented at Pasadena Guild of CHLA June Ball

Thirteen local young women were presented recently at the 58th Pasadena Guild of Children’s Hospital June Ball. The Langham Huntington Hotel was the setting for this annual event sponsored by the Pasadena Guild of Children’s Hospital. More than 300 invited guests celebrated with the debutantes and their families. Debutantes presented included: Allison Abrams, daughter of David and Amanda Abrams of San Marino; Grace Carey, daughter of Timothy and Katherine Carey of San Marino; Natalie Clark, daughter of David and Angelica Clark of Pasadena (in absentia); Caroline Diehl, daughter of John and Kelly Diehl of Arcadia; Bianca Domenghini, daughter of Drew and Sheryl Domenghini of Pasadena; Lauren Goedde, daughter of Julie Withers and Alan Goedde of Pasadena; Eleanor Holdsworth, daughter of Mark and Amanda Holdsworth of San Marino; Emily Hornberger, daughter of J.D. and Nancy Hornberger of San Marino; Margaret Hornberger, daughter of J.D. and Nancy Hornberger of San Marino; Sarah Fay, daughter of Jennifer Pancake and Jonathan Fay of Sierra Madre; Madeline Pernecky, daughter of Paul and Alyson Pernecky of Pasadena; Angela Sarni, daughter of James and Rebecca Sarni of Pasadena; and Elizabeth Shepherd, daughter of Robert and Kimberly Shepherd of Pasadena. Pasadena Guild of Children’s Hospital President Sarah Shelton and ball chairwomen Cherie Harris and Sarah Miller greeted guests at a reception before the debutante presentation. During the program, welcome remarks were made by Shelton and Dr. Robert Shaddy, chair of the department of pediatrics at the Keck School of Medicine of USC and pediatrician-in-chief and senior vice president of academic affairs at CHLA. Jacob Maarse Florists transformed the Langham Huntington Ballroom to create the elegance of the Hollywood Regency period. Scott Jenkins presented each debutante as she appeared center stage. The debutantes’ fathers then joined their daughters on the dance floor for the first waltz of the evening, “Ten Minutes Ago,” from “Cinderella,” played by the band Rembrandt. Proceeds from the evening will benefit the Guild’s current project, the endowment of the Pasadena Guild chair, pediatrician-in-chief and senior vice president of academic affairs at CHLA. Established in 1947 by a small group of dedicated hospital volunteers, the Pasadena Guild has raised more than $34 million for CHLA, successfully completing eight guild endowments in the areas of pediatric eye cancer, pediatric surgery, adolescent medicine, bone and soft tissue research, developmental biology and regenerative medicine. Additionally, the Guild has made developmental biology endowments in partnership with the Saban Research Institute and funded one capital campaign.
