PEN to Honor PUSD Volunteers on May 1

The Pasadena Education Network will host its 12th annual Wine & Spirits Tasting on Sunday, May 1, at the Shakespeare Club, 171 South Grand Ave., Pasadena, from 5-8 p.m.
Annually, PEN recognizes parent and community leaders who represent the type of involvement for which they advocate. This year, three outstanding volunteers are being honored: Jennifer Higginbotham, Leigh Ann Samuel and Dominick Correy. PEN will also recognize Connie De La Torre with the PEN Founders Award for her commitment to PUSD’s families and students.
The event will feature a variety of wines from WineInsiders.com, premium spirits sponsored by Cocktail Cadre, and food by Paella Project and Nothing Bundt Cake. Music will be provided by the Pasadena High School Jazz Band. In addition, there will be a silent auction.
PEN is a network of more than 2,000 parents who support Pasadena Unified School District schools. The grassroots nonprofit promotes family participation in public education in Pasadena, Altadena and Sierra Madre, and believes that parent and community involvement are essential to building strong schools for all students.
Tickets for the Wine Tasting are $75; $115 ticket includes the premium Spirits Tasting and signature Gin & Tonic cocktail. Kids Klub Pasadena will provide discounted childcare for children of attendees who complete paperwork in advance. Sponsorships and opportunities to recognize the event honorees are available at penfamilies.org. For more information contact PEN at (866) 216-7334 or penfamilies.org.
