Local Groups to Honor Veterans on Nov. 11

The American Legion Post 288 and the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1614 will host a Veterans Day Celebration on Friday, Nov. 11, at 8 a.m. at Two Strike Park in La Crescenta.
The Crescenta Valley High School Air Forces Junior ROTC (CA-882) will perform the Presentation of the Colors, the Legion Color Guard will perform “The Armed Forces Medley” honoring all the services of the Armed Forces, and the Color Guard will also conduct a Flag Folding ceremony honoring Army Veteran Barry Logan.
Additionally, Boy Scout Troop 288, sponsored by the American Legion Post 288, will conduct a Flag Retirement Ceremony.
The membership of the Legion and the VFW and the Military Order of the World Wars will be honoring a number of local older veterans on this Veterans Day with individual gifts provided by “Operation Gratitude,” a 19-year-old nonprofit organization that sends more than 750,000 gift boxes to veterans on Veterans Day.
All members of the Crescenta Valley community are invited to attend; seating will be provided.
