Kevin Michael Smith

Kevin Michael Smith | January 28, 1982 - August 25, 2023

Kevin Michael Smith, loving husband, son, brother, uncle, and friend passed on August 25, 2023, on Balboa Island, California.

Kevin was born on January 28, 1982, at Huntington Hospital in Pasadena to Tim and Sheila Smith. He attended San Marino High School, where he was a member of the varsity football team, participated in many dramatic performances, and achieved the esteemed honor of Eagle Scout within the Boy Scouts of America.

Following high school, he attended the University of Arizona where he was a member of the Phi Gamma Delta fraternity. Kevin married Ashley Steen in a weeklong celebration in San Miguel de Allende, Mexico, in the spring of 2017.

“Smitty” didn’t lack for friends, and his varied interests attracted an eclectic crew. When something interested Kevin, he completely immersed himself in it. Those close to him shared in his passion for authentic cuisine, gardening, live music, museums, comedy, film and of course, General George S. Patton.

He loved adventure, fishing, traveling and true to his playful nature, earned the moniker Uncle Goofball by his nieces and nephew.

While struggles with addiction dampened his indomitable spirit over the past couple of years, his infectious laugh will forever echo in the memories of those fortunate enough to have heard it.

Kevin is survived by his wife Ashley, parents Tim and Sheila, his brother Ryan, his nieces Carson and Sydney, his sister and brother-in-law, Shannon and Brad (Wollack), and his nephew and niece Spencer and Poppy (Wollack).

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to a cause near and dear to Kev’s heart: The Midnight Mission in Los Angeles (midnightmission.org/donate). Services will be held @ 3:30 p.m. on Wednesday, September 6th at St. Andrews in Pasadena (311 N. Raymond Ave., Pasadena 91103) with a celebration of Kevin’s life to follow at Annandale Golf Club.
