Aileen Peterson, who resided within the Pasadena community for nearly 60 years, died unexpectedly of a heart attack on July 26, 2022. Aileen was born on June 22, 1948 in Seattle, Washington to June and Warren Johnson.
Her family relocated to the Los Angeles area for her father’s job while she was in high school. She graduated from Glendale High School and later attended Glendale Community College and California State University Los Angeles. Aileen was an active volunteer in the Pasadena community and served in leadership roles for numerous non-profit organizations, including Huntington Hospital, Chandler School, La Canada High School, Westridge School, and National Charity League-San Marino Chapter. After raising her two children, she worked for the La Canada Unified School District in a variety of roles.
For the past 15 years, she worked at Polytechnic School in the Lower and Middle School offices. Aileen was an avid college sports fan and loved walking her dogs around Pasadena. She also thoroughly enjoyed spending time with her family and attending her grandchildren’s school programs and sporting events. Aileen is survived by her husband of 49 years, Ken, her daughter Jill Dennis (son-in-law Brian and grandchildren Allie and Tyler), and her son Chris (daughter-in-law Katie and grandchildren William and Nathan). In lieu of flowers, her family requests that donations in her name be made to Pasadena Humane.
