Flintridge Sacred Heart Academy celebrated its annual gala at the Millennium Biltmore Hotel in downtown Los Angeles. The event celebrated the life of Phyllis Mozilo and paid tribute to her extraordinary contributions, dedication, and generosity to her family and the school. In attendance were several members of Mozilo’s family and close friends along with the other 286 alumnae, current and past families, friends, faculty, staff and Dominican Sisters. Auctioneer Vanessa Thanos spearheaded the fundraising efforts into a successful night with many paddles raised for the second phase of construction to expand the facility that bears her name: The Mozilo Family Center for the Arts.
Guests were greeted by Sister Carolyn McCormack, president of the school, and Sister Celeste Botello, principal, for a photo opportunity in front of an 8-foot-tall open “book” crafted out of wood by FSHA parent Deena Willis. Guests arrived in whimsical dresses, checkered suits and bold hats and proceeded through the ornate gateway down the rabbit hole where they enjoyed dinner and music.
