Pasadena City College Foundation President Bill Hawkins welcomed guests and donors to a Hometown Legend event paying tribute to the legacy of PCC alumnus Bob Ray Offenhauser. The evening began with a glittering twilight reception at the Huntington Library, and then Jim Folsom, director of the institution’s Botanical Gardens, detailed the extraordinary scope and depth of Offenhauser’s architecture and garden design throughout Southern California and the world. In particular, Folsom warmly highlighted Offenhauser’s achievements at the Huntington, specifically the Brody Botanical Center and the Chinese Garden. Folsom gave testament to the collaboration that resulted in creating many remarkable buildings and garden spaces that Huntington visitors continue to enjoy each day.
