Muse/ique’s inaugural summer at the Huntington Library continued recently with “Movement/Aloud,” a dance-filled get-together buzzing with the international flavor that energizes the American sound. The performance celebrated music and freedom on a global scale as Ballet Hispánico ignited the stage, pianist HyeJin Kim played Gershwin’s Concerto in F, and Colombian singer Catalina Cuervo soulfully sang “Over the Rainbow.”
This summer, Muse/ique, conducted and curated by Artistic Director Rachael Worby, explores the mapping of musical America. Inspired by the Huntington’s American art and library collections, Worby has curated a series that explores and celebrates the “American sound.” Each program showcases a different facet of the country’s rich cultural heritage. The final performance is Aug. 25.
