Pasadena Community Foundation recently honored 2017 grantees at its annual Local Heroes breakfast. East West Bank returned as the presenting sponsor.
PCF board chair Judy Gain welcomed more than 200 civic and community leaders. In addition, several philanthropic projects in which PCF collaborates with the city of Pasadena were spotlighted: the Pasadena Assistance Fund, from which PCF will award $50,000 in grants this year to Human Services organizations; the Enduring Heroes monument project; and the restoration of the Pasadena Public Library central branch façade.
Other PCF board members introduced the grant recipients whose work covers arts, education, environment, human services, health and youth. Over the past year, PCF awarded almost $1 million in grants from funds that restrict their grant making to the Pasadena area. According to Jennifer DeVoll, CEO of PCF, “We have had tremendous growth and now manage about 350 charitable funds and more than $70 million in charitable assets. About $54 million are permanent funds that grant locally.”
