Stars’ Cornhole Tournament Benefits Scholarship Fund

Stars, a nonprofit, held its annual Cornhole Tournament on April 22 at the Altadena home of Curt and Kathy Gibson. With 80 guests in attendance, Stars celebrated the launch of the Eric V. Johnson Scholarship Fund, which raises money to support Black college bound PUSD students. Johnson is the associate director of Stars and has worked in youth serving roles in Pasadena for more than 40 years. “This honor is so meaningful and reminds me of the caring teachers and adults that invested in me as a young person,” Johnson said at the event. “My life has been about paying it forward ever since.” Guests enjoyed gourmet wood-fired pizzas, sliders and oysters from the outdoor kitchen during the tournament. The tournament winners were Jensen and Nicole Igo-Hutto of Pasadena. To contribute to Stars or to the Eric V. Johnson Scholarship Fund, visit gostars.org/give.
