HMRI Appoints Three New Board Members

Huntington Medical Research Institutes (HMRI), a leading biomedical research organization in Southern California with a 70-year track record of scientific impact, announced it added three professionals to its board of directors: Dr. Hilary Fausett, attorney Ellen Lansden and business executive John Siciliano.

“We are thrilled to welcome Hilary, Ellen and John to our board of directors,” said HMRI President and CEO Dr. Julia Bradsher. “Their extensive insights from varied professional and philanthropic experiences will play a crucial role in guiding HMRI’s strategic vision to scale, and link our fearless pursuit of science to discoveries that improve human health.”

Hilary Fausett

Dr. Hilary J Fausett is a board-certified pain management specialist. She received her undergraduate degree from the University of Southern California and her medical degree from the University of California, San Francisco. Fausett completed all her post-graduate training at Harvard University Hospitals. Following her residency in anesthesia at the Massachusetts General Hospital, Fausett completed her fellowship in pain management at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center. Following her training, she served on the teaching staff of Harvard Medical School at the Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center.

After leaving her academic position at Harvard, Fausett was a director of pain management at Kaiser Los Angeles before creating the Foothill Center of Wellness and Pain Management in 2003. She was the co-editor of the Manual of Pain Management (Lippincott Williams 2002).

Ellen Lansden

Ellen Lansden specializes in healthcare law and provides outside counsel for a Los Angeles private university’s Office of the General Counsel, Health and Sciences division, and other clients. She spent her early career clerking for Judge Jaqueline Nguyen, who currently sits on the Ninth Circuit, before joining the United States Attorney’s Office as an assistant United States attorney in the Central District of California, where she was granted a high-level security clearance to investigate and prosecute federal cybercrime in the National Security Division-Cyber and Intellectual Property Crimes Section. Before beginning her healthcare boutique law practice, she worked as a legal technical consultant on the legal drama “CSI: Legacy” for CBS and worked on other legal-themed pilots for CBS and ABC.

Lansden is also actively involved in the Pasadena area community, volunteering her time at Polytechnic School, Pasadena Community Foundation and Pasadena Literary Alliance, and over the years, has also coached YMCA youth basketball and AYSO soccer and fundraised for Planned Parenthood Advocates of Pasadena. She lives in Pasadena with her husband, a corporate litigator at Gibson, Dunn & Crutcher, and their family.

John Siciliano

John C. Siciliano is a senior advisor to Accenture, LLP. Previously, he was the president and CEO of several companies, including Payden & Rygel Investment Group, BKF Capital Group, and New York Life Insurance Company Investment Management. He has served on a large number of nonprofit boards, including Huntington Memorial Hospital, USC Marshall School of Business, California Community Foundation, Kravis Leadership Institute and PBS SoCal.

Siciliano has known of HMRI for many years as a Pasadena resident and long-time board member at Huntington Memorial Hospital. The Siciliano family donated a number of contemporary art pieces, which decorate the HMRI headquarters, and he is a committed fundraiser for the biomedical research institute.

Fausett, Lansden, and Siciliano join the distinguished HMRI Board of Directors, led by Board Chair John Babcock.

“Hilary’s medical experience and scientific knowledge, Ellen’s legal expertise, and John’s years of experience in both corporate and nonprofit leadership roles add to our existing board’s breadth of experience, bolstering HMRI’s bold plans for the future,” Babcock said. “Over the next 10 years, the board will guide HMRI to reach its vision of becoming a leading independent biomedical research organization in the United States, linking its scientific discoveries with improvements in human health.”
