Chandler School held its commencement ceremony for the class of 2019 on campus last week. The 64 8th-grade graduates received special flower bouquets and neckties upon arriving at school, and enjoyed mingling in the courtyard before posing for a formal class photo. The graduates crossed the field to the music of bagpipes and took their seats at a heartfelt ceremony attended by families, friends, faculty and staff members, administrators and trustees. Two retiring teachers, Terry Orth and Will Salmon, delivered the invocation and benediction. The class valedictorian was Meena Annika Durairaj and the Distinguished Alumni Award was presented to Dr. Edward “Ted” Merchant ’63, who also addressed students during the ceremony. After proudly receiving their diplomas, the students were joined by their guests at a celebratory reception hosted by the 7th-graders’ parents.
