Westridge%20Celebrates%20Fall%20With%20a%20Festival%20of%20Yams

Westridge School recently hosted its 22nd annual Yam Festival, a potluck-style event featuring dishes in which the yam is the main ingredient. Yamfest began at Westridge in 1998 when the Families of Black Students at Westridge decided to celebrate the “harvest” season in a way that recognized the cultural diversity of the school (the yam is grown on every continent in the world). To this day, Westridge administrators and faculty, staff, students, parents and alumnae bring yam-centric dishes to share and gather on campus for a pre-Thanksgiving feast.
