The year 2020 will be the 100-year anniversary of the passing of the 19th Amendment, the law that gave women the right to vote, and Villa Gardens residents are joining the celebration. Residents gathered recently to celebrate their work with “Pasadena Celebrates 2020,” collaboration among many groups in Pasadena and its environs that lend support to a Rose Parade float celebrating the amendment’s anniversary. Resident Nan Johnson, who inspired the float’s creation and design and spearheaded the “Pasadena Celebrates 2020” movement, was on hand along with 1940 Tournament of Roses Queen Margaret Huntley Main, who told stories of her once-in-a-lifetime experience.
