Muse/ique recently welcomed a sold-out crowd of 500 guests to Westminster Presbyterian Church for “Grace/Landing,” an uplifting gospel-fueled exploration of Elvis Presley. Muse/ique Artistic Director Rachael Worby led a collective of guest artists, including Acabella (from the Academy of Music of the Blind), Miche Braden, DC6 Singers, First New Christian Fellowship Band, RAISE and Pasadena Master Chorale. The evening opened with all ensembles singing the gospel classic “Peace in the Valley,” a song that reached peak popularity when Presley sang it during his final appearance on the “Ed Sullivan Show.” Highlights of the program, which included a mix of Presley’s greatest hits, as well as gospel songs, hymns and spirituals, included a gorgeous performance of “Amazing Grace” by Acabella, and a stunning rendition of “Can’t Help Falling in Love” by Pasadena Master Chorale. By evening’s end, the people were on their feet singing along to “Jailhouse Rock.” It was another magical Muse/ique night of music, community and celebration. “Grace/Landing” is one of five programs that comprise Muse/ique’s Around Town series.
