La Salle, Flintridge Prep on Six-Game Win Streaks

La Salle College Preparatory’s varsity girls’ basketball team returned to action by defeating visiting Newbury Park High, 44-22, in a nonleague game on Saturday, Jan. 8, as three Lancers scored in double digits.
Sophomore guard Audrey Chen nearly registered a triple-double with 11 points, 13 rebounds, eight assists and three steals. Meanwhile, sophomore forward Ryann Riddle and Avery Ward posted nine and eight rebounds, respectively, while adding 12 points each. Freshman Kaden Cortes tallied nine points and three rebounds, while junior guard Daniella Romero contributed eight boards.
La Salle (14-2 overall record) opened Camino Real League play by hosting St. Genevieve High of Panorama City on Tuesday, Jan. 11; the result was unavailable by the Outlook’s press deadline.

Flintridge Prep freshman forward Gigi Mastras has helped the Wolves maintain a 4-0 Prep League record (10-4 overall).

The Wolves recently competed in the La Cañada tournament and extended its season-best win streak to six games after winning their first two games. Unfortunately, the final two days were canceled due to COVID-19 health and safety protocols.
Flintridge Prep (10-4 overall, 4-0 in Prep League) defeated Sun Valley Village Christian, 54-43, in the second round of tournament play on Tuesday, Dec. 28. Junior point guard Ashley Chea racked up a game-high 28 points while sophomore guard Maddie Chiu poured in 11 points. Sophomore shooting guard Izzie Chan added six points, sophomore guard Kassidy Huie scored four points, and senior small forward Riley Hause and senior point guard Maddi Huie each had three points.
The Wolves dominated Glendale High, 55-34, in their tournament opener on Monday, Dec. 27.
Chea registered a double-double with 30 points and 12 rebounds, nearly single-handedly outscoring Glendale. Maddie Chiu added 21 points and six rebounds, while Maddi Huie scored four. points
The Wolves returned to Prep League action by hosting Burbank Providence on Tuesday, Jan. 11; the result was unavailable by the Outlook’s press deadline.

The Panthers competed in the Burbank John Burroughs West
Coast Holiday Classic and routed Van Nuys Grant High, 60-13, on Wednesday, Dec. 29.
The day before, Poly (6-5 overall) defeated Granada Hills Kennedy High, 47-27, to open tournament play on Tuesday, Dec. 28. No individual statistics were reported to the Outlook.

FLINTRIDGE SACRED HEART

The Tologs have been idle since defeating visiting Blair High, 51-30, in a nonleague contest on Dec. 21.

The Cubs (3-7 overall, 0-2 in league) have been idle since falling at Providence Burbank, 45-27, in a Prep League game on Dec. 18.

MARANATHA
The Minutemen dropped their ninth consecutive game to start the season after recently falling to visiting Cerritos Valley Christian, 43-36, on Friday, Jan. 7.
Maranatha (0-9 overall) hosted Northridge Heritage Christian in an Olympic League game on Tuesday, Jan. 11, looking to earn their first win of the season; the result was unavailable by the Outlook’s press deadline.

WESTRIDGE
The Tigers have been idle for over a month since falling at Arcadia Rio Hondo Prep, 55-35, in a Prep League game on Dec. 14.
Westridge (2-4 overall, 0-2 in league) was scheduled to continue Prep League action at Burbank Providence on Tuesday, Jan. 4, but the game was postponed due to COVID-19 health and safety protocols. The game was not rescheduled before the Outlook’s press deadline.
