Jeweler Donates Teddy Bears to Hillsides

First published in the Dec. 16 print issue of the Pasadena Outlook.

Meshell “Mimi” Sohl, the founder of fine jewelry store Mimi et Cie, recently organized a Giving Tuesday teddy bear drive to benefit children at Hillsides.
Although jewelry is Sohl’s passion and expertise, she is also well-known in her community for her support of schools, hospitals and charitable organizations. So, it was no surprise when she decided to give back to Hillsides, the multi-service nonprofit that provides gifts, clothing, food and more to thousands of children and families in need across Los Angeles County.
Every customer who donated a teddy bear to Mimi et Cie’s teddy bear drive was entered into a drawing for a $1,000 gift certificate to the store.
After collecting teddy bears through the month of November, Sohl ended up with a generous donation of 46 teddy bears that she presented to Hillsides Chief Advancement Officer Carrie Espinoza on Giving Tuesday. The teddy bears will go to children who have suffered trauma and cannot live at home.
To learn more about Hillsides’ services, how to organize your own toy drive, or to make a donation to a family in need, visit hillsides.org, or email Espinoza at cespinoza@hillsides.org.
Mimi et Cie is located at 696 E. Colorado Blvd., Suite 7, in Pasadena.
