Pasadena Community Foundation Offers Grant to Cancer Support Community

First published in the Nov. 18 print issue of the Pasadena Outlook.

Cancer Support Community Pasadena has received a capital grant for $8,792 from the Pasadena Community Foundation.
“In light of the continuing pandemic, the equipment funded by this grant helps us to facilitate our hybrid platform of program delivery for cancer patients and their families,” said Patricia Ostiller, CSCP’s executive director. “The video touchscreen, camera and tripod, Wi-Fi extenders and accessories will enhance our virtual programming for our nearly 1,000 participants. Once CSCP resumes in-person support groups, classes and workshops, our participants who choose to still take part virtually will be able do so in real time with their co-participants who attend in person.
“Thanks to the forward thinking of PCF, these technological upgrades to CSCP’s programs will make our virtual participants feel like they’re right in the room with their co-participants.”
Founded in 1990, Cancer Support Community Pasadena is a nonprofit organization providing professionally facilitated support groups, educational workshops and healthy lifestyle classes for cancer patients and their families, survivors, and those bereaved, having lost someone to cancer. All of its programs are offered free of charge.
