Showcase House for the Arts Fall Membership Drive

First published in the Oct. 21 print issue of the Pasadena Outlook.

Pasadena Showcase House for the Arts, an all-volunteer nonprofit organization, is seeking enthusiastic and dedicated individuals to become members. Individuals who believe in the joy of music and the value of long lasting friendships, and are intrigued with interior design, are encouraged to join.
“If you want to revel in the enchantment of music and design, engage with a fun group of individuals, and become a valued member of our community, then Pasadena Showcase House for the Arts is the organization that fits,” said Dotty Ewing, membership chair. “Membership in Pasadena Showcase is a worthwhile and gratifying experience. Utilize your talents or learn new skills while enjoying the camaraderie of friendship.

“Become a part of a prestigious and long-standing organization in supporting our mission of enriching the lives of those in our community through the exposure to music,” Ewing continued. “Experience the rewards of watching a child hold a violin for the first time, the enthusiasm of thousands of children looking up at the expanse of Walt Disney Concert Hall, or the passionate performance of a cellist competing for a monetary award to enhance her education.”
Volunteer members produce the organization’s major annual fundraiser, the Pasadena Showcase House of Design, one of the nation’s oldest, largest and most successful home and garden tours. Planning is now underway for the 2022 Showcase House; details will be announced later this fall.
In addition, members participate in the organization’s music initiatives, including the elementary school Music Mobile, high school Instrumental Competition, and the annual Youth Concert presented at Walt Disney Concert Hall.
The 2021 Fall Membership Drive is open for applicants through Dec. 31. Those interested in becoming a member are invited to learn more at pasadenashowcase.org/membership or contact Ewing at membership@pasadenashowcase.org.
Pasadena Showcase House for the Arts has been supporting local music and arts programs since 1948. With the hard work and dedication of its 200 members, the organization raises funds from its major benefit, the Pasadena Showcase House of Design. Throughout its history, Pasadena Showcase has given more than $23 million to nonprofit organizations, particularly through its Gifts & Grants Program, in support of music education, scholarships, concerts, and music therapy, while continuing to support the L.A. Phil and its learning programs for which the organization was first founded. Pasadena Showcase also nurtures the study and appreciation of music among young people with its three annual music programs: the Music Mobile, which has introduced orchestral instruments to more than 125,000 third grade students; the Instrumental Competition, which has awarded more than $650,000 in monetary prizes for exceptionally talented young musicians; and the Youth Concert, which has brought nearly 250,000 fourth graders to Walt Disney Concert Hall for performances presented by the L.A. Phil. For more information and photos, visit pasadenashowcase.org.
