The Polytechnic varsity football team dropped its second consecutive game last Friday, falling to host Campbell Hall of North Hollywood, 54-7, in a nonleague contest.
The unbeaten Vikings (3-0 overall) exploded for 28 points in the second quarter to build a comfortable 41-7 lead at the half.
Senior running back David O’Mara led the charge with 166 yards and two touchdowns on 10 carries. As a team, Campbell Hall averaged 9.7 yards per rush. Quarterback Isaiah Sepand completed 11 of 16 passes for 140 yards, three touchdowns and an interception.
Senior Robert Marionsims was a bright spot for the Panthers (1-2 overall). The senior ran a fade route and hauled in a 28-yard touchdown pass from quarterback Colin Mathews in the corner of the end zone to put Poly on the board in the second quarter.
Matthias Olson also had a big play for the visiting squad, intercepting a pass from Sepand in the beginning of the third quarter.
Poly, which opened the season defeating Anaheim Savanna and then was shut out by Arcadia Rio Hondo Prep, will look to bounce back on the road against a winless Glendale team this Friday, Sept. 10, at 7 p.m.

Maranatha’s offense was unable to break through against visiting Los Angeles Verbum Dei’s defense and suffered an 18-7 defeat last Friday.
The Minutemen (1-1 overall) were the first to get on the board in the opening quarter with a touchdown from freshman running back Miles Omalley, who finished with 103 rushing yards. Junior quarterback Conner Patterson completed seven of 15 passes for 58 yards and an interception and ran for 53 yards. His favorite target was Camden Jones, who caught three passes for a team-high 34 yards. Miguel Vazquez finished with two receptions for 19 yards and Jahmel Reeves had a 15-yard catch.
Jacob Neely intercepted a pass on defense and Joseph Kazarian recorded a team-high 13 tackles. Jones added seven tackles, two of which were for a loss, and Taylor Patterson contributed four tackles.
Maranatha will host Campbell Hall in a nonleague game this Friday at 7 p.m.

The Lancers stormed back in the final quarter but fell short of a comeback victory, falling to host Kennedy High in a nonleague game on Aug. 27.
La Salle College Preparatory (0-2 overall) trailed 32-7 entering the final quarter before going off for 29 points.
Quarterback Richie Munoz led the offense with 335 yards, four touchdowns and two interceptions on 18 of 41 passing. He also led the team on the ground, rushing for 49 yards and a score.
Mauricio Pavon led the receiving corps with five catches for 130 yards and a touchdown, and Aidan Leyland added four receptions for 56 yards and two scores. David Mysza finished with six catches for 98 yards and a touchdown and Sean Munoz had a 45-yard reception.
Thomas Gomez led the defense with seven tackles and Andrew Boecking added six tackles, including a sack. Adam Pavon had five tackles, including one for a loss, and Angelo Godoy and Mysza each contributed four tackles. Rashaad Austin and Leyland each intercepted a pass.
La Salle was scheduled to face Burbank High School at home last Friday but did not play due to a player testing positive for the coronavirus, according to Principal Jamal Adams, who released a statement on Thursday, Sept. 2, notifying the community.
The Lancers are scheduled to travel to Muir for a nonleague contest this Friday at 7 p.m.

The Wolves opened their eight-man football season with a 40-6 victory over visiting Santa Clarita Christian of Canyon Country last week.
It was the first contest for Flintridge Prep (1-0 overall) since the 2019 season. The program did not play a game during the abbreviated COVID-19 season during the spring.
Prep will remain at home this weekend and host Blair on Saturday, Sept. 11, at 1 p.m.
The Golden Knights suffered their first setback of the season last Friday at the hands of visiting La Verne Damien, which jumped out to a 21-3 lead in the first quarter and never looked back en route to a 42-17 victory.
St. Francis struggled to contain the Spartan offense, which garnered 400 yards and was led by quarterback Dylan Gutierrez, who completed eight of 12 passes for 139 yards and two touchdowns.

One week removed from a memorable 362-yard performance against Mira Costa of Manhattan Beach, St. Francis senior running back Max Garrison was held to 26 yards and one touchdown on 10 carries. He also caught four passes for a team-high 40 yards.
Junior quarterback Jack Jacobs completed 18 of 28 passes for 120 yards and rushed for 37 yards and a score. Andrew Howard finished with four receptions for 29 yards and Preston Jernegan had two catches for 20 yards.
Jernegan led the Golden Knights’ defense with 14 tackles and teammates Diego Jimenez and Duncan Sprengel each contributed four.
