Participate in Rose Bowl Turkey Trot — From Virtually Anywhere

The third annual Rose Bowl Turkey Trot just got bigger by taking on the world and coming to your city, virtually. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the Pasadena family event is pivoting from its typical setup, a 5K trot around the stadium on Thanksgiving morning, and allowing anyone to participate no matter where they are by sharing in this year’s virtual format. Runners, trotters, skippers and jumpers can continue the young tradition from the comfort and safety of their favorite running path.
Participants will be given a window to join the fun by racing between Wednesday, Nov. 25, at 6 a.m. and Friday, Nov. 27, at 8 p.m. All entry fees for 2020 are tax deductible and go directly to the Rose Bowl Legacy Foundation’s America’s Stadium Needs America Campaign. Trot before you gobble and help preserve, protect and enhance the Rose Bowl Stadium.

Know your pace and strategize your race by downloading the RaceJoy app online. By using the app, runners will get progress alerts at every mile and can submit their race results, and their friends and family can cheer them on by following their route from home. As part of registration, participants will get access to the app with timed results and receive a virtual goodie bag, a print-at-home runner bib and custom photo borders to share their journey. To commemorate their run, purchasers can upgrade their ticket to add on a 2020 Rose Bowl Turkey Trot T-shirt.
But wait, it doesn’t stop there. In the spirit of the Thanksgiving holiday, purchasers will be offered the opportunity to make a donation of their choice to feeding our local community in need. Donations will go toward purchasing food items to help Union Station Homeless Services celebrate its 50th anniversary of Dinner in the Park, a community event that has provided thousands of holiday meals and hope. Due to COVID-related restrictions, the event format has been changed to be held in three ways — complete takeaway meals for families and individuals to heat up at home, “All the Fixings” meal kits for those who would like to cook their own Thanksgiving dinner, and private sit-down dinners at their bridge housing facilities on Thanksgiving Day.
While this year’s celebration is unique, the importance is the same to feed those in need with a full holiday meal.
