Mayfield Senior, Flintridge Prep, Poly Unbeaten in Prep League

The Mayfield Senior varsity girls’ soccer team finished competing in the Best in the West Tournament on Dec. 17.
The Cubs saw their five-game win streak end after tying unbeaten Crean Lutheran High of Irvine, 1-1, in a tournament game. Junior Mia Cunningham scored one goal in the first half on an assist by senior Sade Falese.
Mayfield dominated El Rancho High of Pico Rivera, 4-1, in a tournament game earlier that day, as senior Kaitlyn Gomez racked up two goals and two assists. Cunningham finished with one goal and one assist while sophomore Tessa Neal scored once.
The Cubs opened Prep League play with a 4-1 victory at Palos Verdes Chadwick as Gomez recorded a pair of two goals. Senior Ella Gallo tallied one goal and one assist, freshman Julia Lothian produced one goal, and senior Liz Goethals and Cunningham were each credited with an assist.
Mayfield previously defeated visiting San Marino in a nonleague game, 5-2. The Cubs faced a 2-0 deficit at the end of the first half but a five-goal outburst ensued to help the home team secure a win. Gallo and Cunningham each recorded two goals and one assist, Gomez scored once, and senior Rhea Gerontides and Falese each had one assist.
Mayfield (9-2-1 overall, 1-0 in league) will visit La Cañada for a nonleague rematch on Thursday, Jan. 5, at 5 p.m. The Cubs previously defeated the Spartans, 3-2, on Dec. 1.

FLINTRIDGE PREP

Flintridge Prep senior Presley Nevadomsky recorded a pair of goals to help the Wolves win a nonleague game over visiting Granada Hills Charter last week.

The Wolves edged visiting Granada Hills Charter, 3-2, in a nonleague game last Thursday, as senior Presley Nevadomsky recorded a pair of goals.
Senior Nadya Lamarr added one goal, sophomore Dagny Marion had two assists and freshman Scarlett Coombes was credited with an assist.
Flintridge Prep previously finished competing in the Best in the West Tournament.
The Wolves lost to Corona del Mar High of Newport Beach, 4-1. Senior Chayse Ying scored one goal for the second time in as many games while senior Sage Shurman was credited with an assist.
Flintridge Prep tied Fountain Valley, 1-1, in a tournament game. Ying scored once while senior Miranda Thomson had one assist.
The Wolves (4-1-3 overall, 1-0-1 in league) will finish competing in the Oceanside tournament this week before hosting El Rancho High of Pico Rivera in a nonleague game on Tuesday, Jan. 3.

FLINTRIDGE SACRED HEART

Flintridge Sacred Heart Academy senior Erika Caballero scored a pair of goals to help the Tologs defeat La Salle College Preparatory.

The Tologs edged host La Salle College Preparatory, 2-1, in a nonleague game. Senior Erika Caballero scored two goals while junior captain Sachi Kaneko-Grun was credited with a pair of assists.
FSHA (6-1 overall) will open Mission League action at Notre Dame High in Sherman Oaks on Friday, Jan. 6, at 5 p.m.

WESTRIDGE

Westridge senior Sunday Labrucherie scored a pair of goals to help the Tigers win a nonleague game over Blair High.

The Tigers routed visiting Blair High, 4-0, in a nonleague game as seniors Sunday Labrucherie and Avery Maddox each recorded a pair of goals.
Westridge (2-4 overall, 0-1 in league) will resume Prep League action by hosting Polytechnic on Friday, Jan. 6, at 3:15 p.m.

POLY

The Panthers finished competing in the Best in the West Tournament on Dec. 17.
Poly closed tournament play by edging Bell Gardens, 1-0, as senior Amy Sessions scored the deciding goal.
The Panthers previously lost a tournament game against Grace Brethren High of Simi Valley, 3-1, as senior Mia Singla recorded the lone goal.
Poly (3-3-1 overall, 1-0 in league) will resume Prep League action at Westridge School on Friday, Jan. 6, at 3:15 p.m.

LA SALLE

La Salle College Preparatory’s Jacqueline Montoya scored a pair of goals to help the Lancers defeat visiting Schurr High of Montebello in a nonleague game last week.

The Lancers blanked visiting Schurr High of Montebello, 2-0, in a nonleague game last Friday. After a scoreless first half, Jacqueline Montoya scored the deciding goal in the 69th minute before adding an insurance goal in the 79th minute.
La Salle previously competed in the Thousand Oaks Tournament and finished with a 2-0-1 record.
The Lancers shut out Taft High of Woodland Hills, 2-0, in a tournament game last Wednesday, as Alyssa Lopez and Sydney De Mesa each scored one goal.
La Salle tied Notre Dame High of Sherman Oaks, 1-1, in a tournament game last Tuesday. De Mesa recorded one goal while Lopez had one assist.
The Lancers opened tournament action with a 3-1 victory over Channel Islands of Oxnard last Tuesday, as Montoya registered a pair of goals. Farrah McGarry scored once while Lopez and De Mesa were each credited with an assist.
La Salle previously lost a nonleague game against visiting Flintridge Sacred Heart Academy of La Cañada Flintridge, 2-1. Frida Nava tallied one goal while Lopez was credited with an assist on the play.
The Lancers (4-1-4 overall) will open Del Rey League play at Paraclete High in Lancaster on Wednesday, Jan. 4, at 3:15 p.m.

MARANATHA

The Minutemen blanked visiting Blair High, 1-0, in nonleague game; individual statistics were not reported to the Pasadena Outlook. Maranatha improved to 1-1 overall by picking up their first win of the season.
The Minutemen will open Olympic League action at Village Christian High in Sun Valley on Tuesday, Jan. 3, at 3 p.m.
