PUSD Students Win Rose Bud Vase Contest

Some budding young artists within the Pasadena Unified School District are getting rewarded for their work decorating rose bud vases for the Parade of Roses, an annual event sponsored by the Tournament of Roses.
Elementary and middle school artists created pieces representing the 2023 Rose Parade theme, “Turning the Corner.” The Tournament of Roses committee, led by President Amy Wainscott, selected the top three artists from each division.
The Middle School Division winners included Tiffany Swarovski of Center for Independent Study in first place, Helen Bairstow of Blair Middle School in second place and Lukas De Los Santos of Marshall Fundamental School in third place.
The Elementary Division winners included Jean Tirona of Hamilton Elementary School in first place, Ramona Bradford of San Rafael Elementary School in second place and Xaivyen Warren of Altadena Arts Magnet in third place.

Top rose bud vase decorators from the Elementary Division are Xaivyen Warren of Altadena Arts Magnet, Ramona Bradford of San Rafael Elementary School and Jean Tirona of Hamilton Elementary School with Tournament of Roses President Amy Wainscott and PUSD Arts Coordinator Karen Anderson.
