Huntington Medical Research Institutes (HMRI) advances scientific discovery through innovative biomedical research to improve health outcomes and inspire the next generation of scientists.
“Since its founding in 1952, HMRI has enabled talented researchers to seek creative solutions to complex medical problems — and they have succeeded on all fronts,” said President/CEO Julia Bradsher.
As HMRI celebrates its 70th anniversary, Bradsher is inviting the community to join in the celebration at a holiday open house on Saturday, Dec. 3, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.
Hands-on science activities for kids ages 5 through 15 will be offered, along with an artist talk. Research news includes presentations on long COVID by Dr. Robert Kloner, chief science officer, and Dr. Kimberly Shriner, visiting scientist, as well as information on diagnosing Alzheimer’s disease by Dr. Xianghong Arakaki, assistant professor of neurosciences, and Alfred Fonteh, associate research professor of neurosciences.
Nicole Purcell, scientific director of education programs, and Carlos Aguirre, director of education programs, will share updates about HMRI’s summer 2023 education programs for high school and undergraduate students.
Visit hmri.org/70years to register. Join HMRI on Dec. 3 as it celebrates its 70th anniversary in Pasadena!
