Celebrating 90 Years — Villa Gardens Senior Living Community

The year 2023 looks to be big for Villa Gardens. The community will celebrate 90 years as Pasadena’s premier destination for senior living, originally established by retired teachers in 1933.
Consistently named the “Best Place to Retire in Pasadena,” Villa Gardens keeps residents close to all the happenings in the city. There, residents can pursue the passions they have always enjoyed and have opportunities for new relationships and adventures. The site offers a fitness center, pool and spa, as well as a full menu of cultural, social and lifelong learning opportunities. Dining is a culinary adventure in Villa Gardens’ Craftsman-inspired dining room and Bistro where conversations are rich. In fact, when residents want to host an event at Villa Gardens, they can work with Villa Gardens catering department, which fills about 100 catering orders each month.
“We have residents who host parties, meetings and all types of gatherings here so it is important that we have this unique service available,” says catering manager Irma Gallegos. “This is a special service we are very proud of. We can assist with small birthday or tea parties of five or 10 people to large events with 150 guests or anything in between.”
Residents can appreciate the comforts of their private residences when they want, but are also a part of a community with friends who care about them.
Most Villa Gardens residences come with a balcony, many with views of the San Gabriel Mountains. Just minutes away lies all the excitement and sophistication of the City of Roses.
As a continuing care retirement community, staff are available 24/7 if ever needed for personal care or service. If residents need rehabilitative or skilled nursing care, the community’s five-star Medicare rated Health Center is located on site. Summer House at Villa Gardens is a unique, welcoming memory care neighborhood and part of a senior living community that offers independent living, assisted living and other services.
“Villa has a reputation as an intellectually stimulating community,” says Villa Gardens resident Joyce Newman. A sculptor with a doctorate in biochemistry, Newman says she loves that. “Moving to a senior living community was not an easy decision, but I wanted to make sure I made the move when I wanted to, not when necessity forced me to.”
