La Salle Brings First-Ever Mid-Autumn Festival to Campus

First published in the Oct. 6 print issue of the Pasadena Outlook.

La Salle College Preparatory recently held its first Mid-Autumn Festival in its school history.
The celebration was attended by nearly 400 La Salle students, parents, faculty, staff, and community members who enjoyed performances and various activities, such as DIY mooncakes and lanterns, Chinese riddles, moon observation and exploration, and Hou-Yi dart games.
La Salle has been a champion in an effort to promote cultural diversity on its campus. Its mission firmly believes that not only academic excellence is a necessity, but understanding different cultures and inspiring a passion for exploring intercultural relations is critical in today’s education.
“I feel very fortunate to be at La Salle College Preparatory. Such a wide range of ethnic diversity at the school, where everyone feels like they have a place,” President Perry Martin said. “The Asian population is about a third of our school, so it is really, really important that they have a voice and that they are able to take what they have and share it with the rest of the school population. And that’s what it is tonight.”
The festival also received support from the Consulate General of the People’s Republic of China and the China National Tourist Office, Los Angeles.
