Local Top Athletes Compete in CIF Finals

The Mayfield Senior varsity track and field CIF-SS finalists scored 12 total points to tie for 20th overall with Flintridge Prep and Ontario Christian High in the Division IV girls’ track and field events at Moorpark High School on Saturday, May 14.
Freshman Sissy Page claimed second in the high jump with a 5-00.00 mark, junior Sade Falese took sixth in the long jump with a 16-06.50 mark, and junior Cecilia Kvochak placed eighth in the 800-meter run with a 2:35.21 time.

POLYTECHNIC
The Panthers scored seven total points to place 27th overall in the CIF-SS Division IV boys’ track and field events at Moorpark High.
Senior Mikel Rhone-Collins placed fifth in the triple jump with a 41-03.00 mark. Meanwhile, junior Jonah Goldstein placed seventh in the discus throw with a 122-08 mark and eighth in the pole vault with a 10-09.00 mark.

FLINTRIDGE PREP
The Wolves scored 12 total points to tie for 20th overall with Polytechnic and Ontario Christian High in the CIF-SS Division IV girls’ track and field events.
Senior Chase Sullivan claimed second in the triple jump with a 36-01.00 mark while also placing fifth in the long jump with a 16-09.75 mark.
Meanwhile, sophomore Kevin Martinez (44.67) finished ninth in the boys’ Division IV 300-meter hurdles.

FLINTRIDGE SACRED HEART
The Tologs scored two total points to place 36th overall in the CIF-SS Division IV girls’ track and field events as senior Ella Venne placed seventh in the high jump with a 4-06.00 mark.

ST. FRANCIS
The Golden Knights scored 38 total points to place fifth overall in the CIF-SS Division III boys’ competition.
Junior Clint Geryak won the pole vault with a 13-09.00 mark, while senior Dario Rock won the 110-meter hurdles with a 14.54 time. Senior Leland Lieberg (6-02.00) and senior Milo Orona (6-00.00) finished third and sixth, respectively, in the high jump. Lieberg took third in the triple jump with a 44-06.50 mark, the 4×100 meter relay team of Orona, senior Andrew Howard, Rock, junior Drushaun Phillips and senior Owen Masayon claimed eighth with a 43.62 time, and sophomore Luke Metcalf (1:59.26) placed seventh in the 800.

LA SALLE
The Lancers scored 25 total points to place sixth overall in the CIF-SS Division IV girls competition.
Junior Mia Reid claimed second in the 100-meter hurdles with a 15.14 time while also taking second in the 300 hurdles with a 47.03 time. Senior Carissa Santoyo (35-05.00) and freshman Farrah McGarry (33-10.00) finished fourth and fifth, respectively, in the triple jump.
Meanwhile, the La Salle boys’ team tied for 19th with Thacher High of Ojai, St. Genevieve High of Panorama City, San Marino and Villanova Prep of Ojai with 10 total points in Division IV.
Senior John Alvarez captured fifth in the high jump with a 5-10.00 mark. He also placed sixth in the triple jump with a 41-03.00 mark, seventh in the 300 hurdles with a 43.10 time and eighth in the 110 hurdles with a 16.37 time. Junior Alexandro Alvarez (9:59.85) finished ninth in the 3,200-meter run.

MARANATHA
The Minutemen tied Viewpoint High of Calabasas for 11th overall with 16 total points in the Division IV boys.
Senior Finn Andrews won the 300-meter hurdles with a 38.44 time while also placing third in the 110-meter hurdles with a 14.91 time.

HARVARD-WESTLAKE

Local athlete Adrienne Usher won the Division III long jump title.

The local athlete who had the most dominant performance at the CIF finals was Adrienne Usher. A longtime Pasadena resident who is a senior at Harvard-Westlake in Studio City, Usher won the CIF Division III girls’ long jump with a personal-best mark of 18-11.5. She also finished second in the 100-meter hurdles in 14.81 seconds and was runner-up in the high jump at 5-2.00. Harvard-Westlake finished second in the divisional team competition with 79 points, being edged by a single point by champion Calabasas. Usher will be advancing to this Saturday’s Masters Meet to compete for the Wolverines in both the long jump and hurdles.
