Mayfield, Flintridge Prep Each Beat Poly

Freshman Jenna Domingo tossed a four-hit shutout with seven strikeouts to help the Mayfield Senior varsity softball team beat visiting Westridge, 9-0, in a Prep League game last Thursday. She also collected a pair of singles, two RBIs, two stolen bases and two runs scored on offense.
Mayfield sophomore Madilyn Domingo went 2-for-4 with a triple, a stolen base, a pair of runs scored and an RBI, while freshman Jaz Johnson tripled, scored a run and tallied a pair of RBIs. Senior Maria Dilbeck produced a base hit, two runs scored, two stolen bases and an RBI, senior Emily Vargas notched a base hit, freshman Penelope Pegram scored once and stole a base, and senior Jamie Pernecky scored once.
The Cubs recently picked up a 15-2 lopsided league victory at Polytechnic after jumping to a 7-0 lead in the first and adding a crooked number in three of the following four innings. Freshman Kennedy Taylor pitched a five-inning complete game, allowing four hits, two runs (one earned) and three walks with three strikeouts. She also doubled with a pair of RBIs and two runs scored at the plate.
Pernecky went 2-for-2 with a triple, a double and two runs scored, while Johnson and Dilbeck each had a base hit, two runs scored and an RBI. Senior Caitlin Dopudja doubled with an RBI, junior Francesca Agliolo tallied a base hit, an RBI and a run scored, and freshman Peyton Pegram registered a base hit and a run scored. Freshman Sasha Gracia recorded a base hit, Vargas produced a pair of RBIs and a run scored, Madilyn Domingo scored twice, and junior Chloe Clawson and Penelope Pegram each scored once.
Mayfield lost to visiting Providence High of Burbank, 6-4, recently. The Cubs entered the top of the fifth with a 4-1 lead, but a four-run inning for the Pioneers denied Mayfield a league victory. Pernecky led the offense by going 3-for-3 with a double and a run scored. Meanwhile, Johnson tallied a base hit, a stolen base and a pair of runs scored, Taylor registered a base hit and an RBI, Dilbeck collected a base hit, and Madilyn Domingo produced an RBI and a run scored.
The third-place Cubs (12-7-1 overall record, 6-3 in league) will visit Rio Hondo Prep of Arcadia in a league game on Friday, April 22.

FLINTRIDGE PREP
The visiting Wolves collected their third win and first shutout of the season by defeating rival Polytechnic, 7-0, in a Prep League game last Friday. Freshman Elise Fong picked up the win, while junior Sarah Boughdanos went 2-for-3 with an RBI, a run scored and a stolen base.
Flintridge Prep narrowly lost a league game to visiting Westridge School, 5-3, last Tuesday. Boughdanos finished 2-for-3 with a double and a pair of RBIs, while sophomore Asta Uziel tallied a base hit, two stolen bases and two runs scored.
The visiting Wolves previously lost a league game at Mayfield Senior, 9-6. Senior Luna Tobar recorded a base hit, an RBI and two runs scored, while junior Madison Lin produced a pair of RBIs and a run scored.
Fifth-place Flintridge Prep (3-10-1 overall, 2-7 in league) will host Alverno Heights Academy of Sierra Madre in a nonleague game on Thursday, April 21, at 3:30 p.m. before a league rematch with visiting Poly on Monday, April 25, at 3:30 p.m.

POLYTECHNIC

The Panthers dropped their 11th consecutive game after being shut out by visiting Flintridge Prep, 7-0, in a Prep League matchup last Friday. Poly was edged by visiting Ramona Convent High of Alhambra, 12-11, in a nonleague game on Tuesday, April 12. No individual statistics were reported to the Pasadena Outlook.
The Panthers (1-12 overall, 0-8 in league) will attempt to collect their first league win when they visit Palos Verdes Chadwick on Friday, April 22, at 3:45 p.m.

WESTRIDGE
The Tigers were shut out by Mayfield Senior, 9-0, in a Prep League game last Thursday. Westridge previously collected back-to-back victories after narrowly defeating host Flintridge Prep, 5-3, last Tuesday and edging visiting Glendale, 4-3, in extra innings. No individual statistics were reported to the Pasadena Outlook.
Fourth-place Westridge (4-6 overall, 3-5 in league) will travel to Providence High of Burbank in a league game on Friday, April 22, at 3:30 p.m.

Westridge freshman Rysie Ybarra and the Tigers are fourth in the Prep League standings with a 3-5 record.

LA SALLE
The Lancers snapped a two-game losing streak with a 16-7 nonleague victory at Muir High of Pasadena, 16-7, last Wednesday as Zoe Thomas collected a pair of doubles.
The Lancers previously lost to visiting Bishop Montgomery High of Torrance, 18-2, in a Camino Real League game recently. Talia Ettinger, Bella Ferrari and Tati Pisa each tallied a base hit.
Third-place La Salle (4-8 overall, 2-3 in league) will host St. Genevieve High of Panorama City in a league game on Tuesday, April 26, at 3:15 p.m.

La Salle’s Jayden VanMeter and the Lancers are third in the Camino Real League with a 2-3 record.

MARANATHA
The visiting Minutemen dropped their sixth straight after losing at Valley Christian High of Cerritos, 10-2, in an Olympic League game last Thursday. No individual statistics were reported to the Pasadena Outlook.
Maranatha (1-6 overall, 0-5 in league) will visit Mountain View Christian School of Las Vegas in a nonleague doubleheader on Thursday, April 21, at 1 and 3 p.m.

FLINTRIDGE SACRED HEART
The Tologs entered this week having been idle since their 21-0 blowout victory over visiting Notre Dame Academy of Los Angeles on March 31.
FSHA (11-7 overall, 4-0 in league) will visit Marymount High of Los Angeles in a Sunshine League game on Thursday, April 21, at 3:15 p.m.
