Wolves Remain Unbeaten; Maranatha Drops League Opener

The Flintridge Preparatory varsity girls’ soccer team remained undefeated after shutting out host Chino High, 4-0, in a nonleague match on Tuesday, Dec. 28.
Senior forward and team captain Kate Fuetterer led the Wolves (7-0-2 overall record) with two goals, freshman midfielder Valentina Mancilla had one goal and one assist, and junior midfielder Sage Shurman scored once. Junior midfielder Chayse Lim-Ying had two assists, and freshman midfielder Sarah Rude added one. Junior goalie Ana Bozzi-Mackay earned the shutout victory.
Flintridge Prep is scheduled to start Prep League action by hosting Burbank Providence on Friday, Jan. 14, at 3:15 p.m.

MARANATHA
The Minutemen dropped their Olympic League opener at La Habra Whittier Christian, 1-0, on Tuesday, Jan. 4.
Maranatha (3-4 overall, 0-1 in league) was scheduled to host Cerritos Valley Christian on Friday, Jan. 7; however, the game was postponed. It was not rescheduled by the Outlook’s press deadline.
The Minutemen are expected to visit Sun Valley Village Christian for a league game on Tuesday, Jan. 18, at 3 p.m.

POLYTECHNIC
The Panthers have been idle since their 2-0 shutout victory against Costa Mesa Estancia in the Best of the West Tournament’s final day on Saturday, Dec. 18.
Poly’s first two Prep League games with Chadwick of the Palos Verdes Peninsula and Mayfield Senior last week were postponed due to COVID-19 health and safety protocols. Neither was rescheduled before the Outlook’s press deadline.
Instead, the Panthers (4-1-1 overall) are scheduled to visit rival Flintridge Prep for their league opener on Tuesday, Jan. 25, at 3:15 p.m.

LA SALLE
The Lancers have been idle since falling to Valencia West Ranch High, 6-0, in the Thousand Oaks tournament’s final day on Wednesday, Dec. 22.
La Salle (1-1-1 overall) was scheduled to begin Del Rey League action with La Puente Bishop Amat and Torrance Bishop Montgomery, but the games were postponed due to COVID-19 health and safety protocols. The game with Bishop Amat was moved to Thursday, Feb. 3, while the Bishop Montgomery game wasn’t rescheduled by the Outlook’s press deadline.
The Lancers are expected to open league action by hosting Lakewood Saint Joseph on Thursday, Jan. 13, at 5 p.m.

FLINTRIDGE SACRED HEART
The Tologs have been idle since being shut out at La Cañada, 2-0, in a nonleague match on Dec. 17.
FSHA (2-3-1 overall) was supposed to start Mission League play by hosting Mission Hills Alemany on Thursday, Jan. 6, but the game was postponed due to COVID-19 health and safety protocols. Instead, the Tologs opened league at West Hills Chaminade on Wednesday, Jan. 13; the result was unavailable the Outlook’s press deadline.
FSHA is scheduled to host Los Angeles Immaculate Heart for its second league contest on Friday, Jan. 14, at 5:15 p.m.

MAYFIELD SENIOR
The Cubs ended December by competing in the Best of the West Tournament and swept their competition on Dec. 18. Mayfield (7-1-1 overall) defeated Simi Valley Grace Brethren, 4-1, and shut out Marshall High later that afternoon.
The Cubs are scheduled to begin Prep League action by visiting Poly on Thursday, Jan. 13, at 3:30 p.m.

WESTRIDGE
The Tigers earned the first season victory by shutting out visiting Sun Valley Village Christian, 4-0, on Dec. 16.
Westridge (1-6 overall) has been idle ever since; however, the Tigers are expected to host Chadwick of the Palos Verdes Peninsula to begin Prep League action on Friday, Jan. 14, at 3:15 p.m.
