Mayfield Junior School 4th-grade teacher Rebecca Seymour knows firsthand how cancer can touch the lives of our community.
Following a fellow faculty member’s passing nearly 13 years ago, Seymour felt the need to act and began raising awareness and funds to support the fight against the disease.
Continuing this tradition, MJS students, faculty and staff recently made donations to the American Cancer Society in exchange for a free dress day. Mayfield community members wore denim and pink — the universal color that honors breast cancer survivors, those that have been lost to the disease, and the progress being made to defeat it.
The contributions to the American Cancer Society go toward helping to fund cancer research, provide free information to those affected by breast cancer, and help people take steps to reduce cancer risk.
Seymour recently reported that MJS met and exceeded the fundraising goal.
