Kidspace Brings Winter Frolic to Children

First published in the Nov. 4 print issue of the Pasadena Outlook.

The Kidspace Children’s Museum will welcome its first annual Winter Frolic starting Nov. 19 through Jan. 9, 2022.
The inspiration behind this seven-week celebration was to design a space for children and families to share the holidays together.
“Winter is a special time to get cozy together, plan adventures and share joy, but the hustle and bustle can be hard on parents and children alike,” said Kidspace CEO Lisa Clements. “We felt the need to create a place that looks and feels magical, where adults can join in the fun with no work and no worry, and where the big moments of the season can be experienced on a more intimate, child-sized scale.”
The Kidspace Winter Frolic offers a flurry of experiences and programs:
• Got socks? Grab your favorite socks and head out to Kidspace’s no-ice Sock Skating Rink. Sock skating is the ideal challenge for beginning skaters who can slide and spin without bothering about blades. Tickets for the Sock Skating Rink are available for all ages for an additional $5 fee. To keep skaters safe, capacity will be limited.
• “Ice fishing” in the Kidspace Interpretive Arroyo Stream or building a winter sculpture using special “ice blocks” that won’t melt under the California sun (or give you frost bite).
• Children can decorate a snowflake at the Kidspace Winter Craft Station, free of charge with admission.
And this is just the tip of the Kidspace Winter Frolic iceberg.
Kidspace offers flexible family memberships that make the perfect gift for friends, grandparents and your family, offering free daily admission, discounts, and early access to special events, like Winter Frolic. It’s the create-explore-paint-dance-and-play gift that families can enjoy all year long.
Visit kidspacemuseum.org to reserve general admission tickets for the Winter Frolic and Sock Skating Rink.
